Dov Charney Finally Gets Something Right

I've made no secret of the fact that I hate American Apparel's new style. That early-nineties WASP look makes my skin crawl to no end. Besides being horribly unsexy, it reminds me of my Connecticut upbringing, which involved much torment of my fragile baby-Goth psyche at the hands of numerous preppy bullies. Regardless: there's one thing this style has gotten right, and that is bush. At least in this new ad.

Copyranter pointed it out earlier today, commenting "is this the sleaziest American Apparel ad ever?" I'd venture to say that no, it is not, and furthermore, I actually kind of like it. For one thing, it features lots of glorious bush, reassuring us that the young-looking model is actually post-pubescent. For another, it shows how weird their crappy underwear looks on anyone without a full Brazilian; it's important to be honest on these matters. I also enjoy the juxtaposition of the frumpy sweater top with the super-slutty bottom, as if to highlight the utter hypocrisy of awful little polo-shirt-clad shits who rag on defenseless Goth girls and then receive character awards at prep school the very next day. Dov Charney, I reluctantly salute you.
