Spitzer: A Puzzle of a Governor

Posted by Harkavy at 8:09 AM, March 13, 2008

The clues were there all the time.

We should have figured out what would happen to New York's top pol. It was inevitable. So, move over, "Kristen" — er, Ashley. It's my turn to play with Governor Eliot Spitzer:

Loves pro tit. Zero reign.

Who says women don't have power? One almost brought down a president and this one did bring down a governor.

Isn't it remarkable, that the U.S.A. in general, is more concerned about the sexual behaviors of its officials and its citizens, than the issues which really seem to be plaguing our society. How far are we, from being a theocratically chaste minded government, after all?

HARKAVY REPLIES:

I see your point, and I'll raise you this one: It's Spitzer's hypocrisy that is more annoying than his sexual behavior, about which who the hell cares? This guy has boasted about busting prostitutes and prostitution rings.
In any case, European papers often mock Americans' prudishness about politicians. However, hypocrisy is a universal problem, particularly when pols try to tell us how to behave. The hypocrisy that Spitzer displayed -- like that of the numerous anti-gay pols and moralistic preachers who inevitably get caught trying to their freak on with same-sex partners -- deserves a roasting.

Hypocrite? Who cares? Spitzer had a good run. He kept the plates in the air for a long time. His wife stood by him in public, so he must be very good, and the timing of his fall couldn't be better for his friends on Wall Street.

The Gov has way more game than these interchangeable little pimps running the markets into the ground. JP Morgan should ditch Alan Schwartz and hire Eliot.
