Turkey Alert: Paris When She Fizzles

Categories: Paris Hilton

Some would say Paris Hilton's best performance was telling Larry King that she's embraced the Bible instead of open bars, but Paris herself feels it's in the romantic comedy The Hottie and the Nottie. The Teflon socialite took her role in the film so seriously that she worked with the same acting coach who helped nab Oscars for ex-bimbos Halle Berry and Charlize Theron, plus she dutifully took in Marilyn Monroe's body of work, as it were. "I love Marilyn," Paris tells the Boston Herald's Stephen Schaefer, "and I was definitely channeling her while doing this film. She's totally a blonde icon and I look up to her." Probably from under her billowing dress. Alas, the resulting romp isn't turning out to be a cinema classic equal to Some Like it Hot or even Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. In fact, it's getting a 17% rating on rottentomatoes.com. As our own hottie Nathan Lee wrote, the film is "crass, shrill, disingenuous, tawdry, mean spirited, vulgar, idiotic, boring, slapdash." But otherwise he liked it. Another critic wondered in print just how bad the movie is. "It's a blot on Paris Hilton's dignity!" he decided, brashly.
