Wicked Finds a Way To Make More Money
What do you do when you have a smash show that's inspired thousands of 'tweens to argue stuff like, "Who was better, Kristin or Idina?" and you can't think of other ways to create merch for those frothing pubescents to buy? You find a fucking way! And so, on the 28th, just in time for Halloween, they're releasing a fifth anniversary special edition CD of the show's cast album, complete with some features that represent new chances for them to spend mommy's paycheck and daddy's unemployment. (Of course much older theater queens are welcome do so too--spend their parents' money, that is.)
The double disc includes the same old cast recording, plus a bonus CD with eight never released tracks like "a brilliant duet with LeAnn Rimes and Delta Goodrem on the moving ballad 'For Good' as well as a pop version of 'I'm Not That Girl' by current Wicked star Kelly Ellis." And that's not all, my little munchkins! There's also "a new dance mix of 'Defying Gravity' by Idina Menzel and 'Making Good,' a track that was included in early drafts the show, and captured on record here for the first time." So you've got both "For Good" and "Making Good". Good?
I don't know. I guess it sounds like a valiant attempt to defy the gravity of our national economic situation by dredging up some remixes, random guest stars, and obscure snipped numbers. But generally, when stuff is cut from a show, there's a reason for it, no? Ah, Michael, don't be wicked!
