New Life For Chicken Slaughterhouse?

A Chicken Empathy Museum sounds like an upscale showcase for all the young boys molested by a certain pop star. But that's not at all what we're talking about here! We're talking about how, when a Pilgrim's Pride poultry processing plant in Farmerville, Louisiana was announced as closing, the animal activist group PETA wrote Governor Bobby Jindal a letter begging him to turn the place into--everybody now--a Chicken Empathy Museum! Duh!

The PETA peeps felt that the establishment, which had been a sort of Auschwitz for future barbecue meals, could be transformed into a learning institution whereby patrons could look at inspiring displays showing the joys of live poultry and take in information about how bright chickens are, and how sociable too! No way, said Jindal, who feels chickens are simply delicious. "I think this is a lot of squawking about nothing." Chicken!
