Broadway's Reviving Revivals Again!

What Broadway does best is re-mounting the same shows you've already seen at every stage of your conscious life. In hell, I'm sure, I'll open a Playbill and find I'm watching Guys and Dolls one more time, this time with all pedophiles and serial killers.

So which musical rehashes are we most looking forward to this season?

*Bye Bye Birdie. A fun, poppy show--and to be fair, this one hasn't been revived on Broadway. So let's put on a happy face.

*A Little Night Music. This operetta-style musical mixing Sondheim and Ingmar Bergman hasn't come back before either. So much for my whole theory! I did happen to catch the original, and exquisite doesn't begin to describe it (and not just because my balcony seat cost only $2.50!)

*Finian's Rainbow. Another one you don't see a lot, this curio has whimsy, romance, and some lovely jabs at racism.

*Ragtime. A little underappreciated in its time (Lion King opened the same year), this singing and dancing mosaic could finally achieve true greatness.

*La Cage aux Folles Didn't we just see this? I guess the production will be scaled down for the new economy. Should we give it the hook or the ovation?
