• I've seen NINE and Marion Cotillard is extraordinary it it. She's the emotional center of the movie. Her rendition of "My Husband Makes Movies" gave me chills and a lump in my throat. She will be pushed for Best Actress and if anybody argues she doesn't have enough screen time all that would need to be done is to bring up Nicole Kidman's screen time in THE HOURS.

• Julia was fantastic; just saw it last week and was really impressed with TS.

• Tilda Swinton for Julia. Caught it on dvd. Amazing performance.

• Marion Cotillard will be pushed lead for 'Nine', so considering its Harvey Weinstein pushing the film and she is reportedly amazing in it, I wouldn't be surprised if her name was pulled up. Penelope Cruz might get a supporting nod for 'Nine' - she's definitely not getting one for 'Broken Embraces' - while I enjoyed it, I just can't see it taking awards like 'Volver' did. I think Annette Bening's film is inelligble, and I think everyone's made up their mind that Hilary Swank is a long-shot. What about Vera Farmiga in 'Up in The Air'? Abbie Cornish seems to be losing buzz for 'Bright Star'.

• I think it is universally accepted Anti-Christ is not for everyone, as it was hated at Cannes but even they gave Gainsbourg acting honors. The last scene was extremely graphic and brave. If Halle Berry won one for a sex scene considered raw, brave, graphic, etc then certainly the mutilation scene will make voters lean toward at least acknowledging Gainsbourg.

• I'll go with your picks. I haven't seen any of these movies.

• Only Best Picture wil have 10 nominees. The acting categories get 5.

• they owe Meryl! if she wins this year though it'll really be for Devil Wears Prada. Kinda like giving Hairy (Robin) Williams an oscar for Good Will Boring, when really they were just giving him his award for Good Morning Vietnam. will there be 10 acting nominations as well, or is that just for best picture??

• Why didn't they make this the category with ten nominees? Who cares about ten "best" films when ten actresses is more fun? And five nominees for everything else is still too much. Two would be just perfect - if you cared for a category, then you'll always have a 50-50 chance of seeing your favorite make it. So my dream Oscar show would have just that: two nominees for everything, except for the ten for best actress. Much shorter running time, more symbolic (and maybe actual) catfights. Maybe Congress can pass some kind of legislation for this?

• The last two slots are still up for grabs, and I'm not even sure gabby will make it to the top five. Cornish, Bening, perhaps even Farmiga, or Penelope will fight it out with Mirren and Ronan.

• Mo'Nique will get supporting.

• Mo'nique --- And she'll will cry maple syrup when she collects her Oscar!

• Zooey doesn't have a chance. Vera will be in supporting. No way for Gainsborg. The movie's too weird.

• I actually thought Carey Mulligan was younger, she's the same age as Keira Knightly but played the youngest Bennet sister in Pride & Prejudice. She has buzz about her as the next Audrey Hepburn, I am sure there is going to be buzz of her to the point of nausea with this film. Saoirse Ronan, who was robbed of an Oscar for Atonement, better be nominated. She's brilliant. I do think one of the women in Nine will be moved to Leading while maybe one of two of them for supporting like they did with Chicago. Marianne? Penelope? I assume Melanie Laurent for supporting in Inglorious Basterds but if you pay attention the movie it is about Shoshanna. I have heard Penelope Cruz as a double nominee for Nine and Broken Embraces. Gainsbourg for Anti-Christ? I have heard Vera Ferminga in Up In The Air. She is considered the best actress never nominated for an Oscar and anything next to Clooney's name taken seriously is gold eg Tilda Swinton. Zooey Deschanel in 500 Days of Summer? That may the movie that gets a lot of for your consideration but only settles with Best Original Screenplay type of movie.

• I long for the time when Marsha Mason would get nominated every year for best actress---not for a particular movie role as much as for being Neil Simon's wife. Interesting how that stopped when she divorced him.

• I hope it's Hilary vs. Annette for the third time.

• The movie industry has been fucked for the last decade like the music industry and the whole entertainment industry. Bring back the 80s, I could care less about any of these people or films.

• Merylsucks should crawl back into her/his hole and die. He/she sounds like one of those teabaggers, dredging up old, out of date-isms about Meryl's skill with accents. There's some talk that Annette Bening might have a film coming out for our consideration.

• Meryl stank up that movie -- Dan Aykroyd was better in the role of the Julia -- what will stop the Academy's insane practice of throwing Meryl an Oscar every time she takes a shit -- with a lousy accent! Her accents are as bad as Dick Van Dyke's in Mary Poppins and everyone pees in admiration that she is doing an accent -- fuck her!

• I'm not totally ruling out Swank, despite the reviews.

• And Carey Mulligan's only 24. The Academy loves their Swank & they love biopics - nothing for Amelia?

• I pray this is the year Meryl finally gets another one. But you really think there'll be two young girls in the running (Gabourey and Saoirse, whoever they are)?

• No arguments, but with those nominees, my guess is: No ratings!!!
