Filmmaker Leo Sacks just emailed me to describe a documentary he's doing about a New Orleans gospel-world scandal that's escaped too many people's radars.

As he explained it:

"Raymond Myles was the Gospel Genius of New Orleans who was murdered on the cusp of stardom.

"Raymond was a colorful, complex, and conflicted character, a man of outsized personality who could have only come from New Orleans.

"My doc lifts the veil on the homophobia and hypocrisy in the black church where Raymond was celebrated as the greatest of his generation, and at the same time, ostracized for being a Gospel Sissy."

Well, the teaser for A Taste of Heaven can be viewed here.

And I say "hallellujah!" that someone's investigating this sad story of crushed promise.
