Can Details Get Away With Calling Someone a "Douchefag'?

• I also have some old copies of this with Michael Musto, and thought they were pretty good into the early 90's, as far as mainstream mags you could buy in the supermarket go. But they haven't mattered for a long time as everyone seems to agree. Stupid decisions like this, (along with articles about how to make your new leather jacket look old) will be the downfall. I don't know who reads this.

• Sad that when Conde Nast made their last rounds of cuts, that it didn't included Details. Men's Vogue was much more interesting, not homophobic in the least, and it didn't pretend to be "we're a straight magazine" like GQ and Details... and Playgirl. ;-)

• What do you expect from "Details"? It's written by and for self-loathing closet queens.

• Details is consistently offensive about gay stuff.

• The editor is also a misogynist pig: "Just look at the features in men's magazines. They're often much meatier than the fare you find in women's magazines. What does that tell you? • I remember the 80s Details. A friend wrote a column in it called "Some Like It Smog," about L.A., where else. She tried to get an article of mine into the magazine to pay me back for a favor I did her and I'll never forget the snubbing I took from her tres gay editor, while he fawned over my friend like she was the second coming of Dorothy Parker.

• I still have some vintage Details issues from the mid 80's; some featuring Musto. What a great mag that used to be. Unrecognizable now.

• are we forgetting that the word "douche" is demeaning to women because of the connotation is posessess in addition to the word "fag" ? this is a mess. hellllooooo people, remember something?

• just a matter of time before Details goes out of business too. Hundred of pages of nothing. A poor excuse for a magazine.

• Details has a crush on Tom Brady, who I think has been on more of their covers than Sports Illustrated, who looks like a Ford Models reject and is a dead-beat dad on top of it, and they are casting stones? Oh and I found this off of Wikipedia that shows Details Magazine's obsession with demonizing gay stereotypes on top of emasculating groups' men of a certain culture: In April 2004, Details Magazine published an article written by Whitney McNally entitled "Gay or Asian?" In the article, McNally expanded upon stereotypical Asian pop culture references and compared Asian men to gay men. The article led to protests by Asian-American groups and gay rights groups.[2] Details published an apology for the article in its May 2004 issue. The writer, Whitney McNally, was not fired from Details but no longer works for the magazine.

• They should use it against homophobes: Rush Limbaugh is a douchefag.

• Since Buju Banton is a Douchefag, he wants to pose for Details magazine giving Musto a blowjob --

• Further thoughts: Are they assuming everyone's SO sophisticated that they've reclaimed the f word ? Well (a) that's not true and (b) the mag is using it as a negative here, so they're hardly taking the sting out of it. Would they EVER have the nerve to call someone a "douchenig"? Nope.

• Details has been a "DOUCHEFAG RAG" for years now, it's like the pot calling the kettle black.
