I Went to Harlem in Ermine and Pearls
Well, in pants from Old Navy, a polyester button-down shirt, and one of my pullover sweaters from The Cosby Show.
And I had a blast!
The destination was Mojo, a newish eatery where the food is provocatively good (try the "sexy grits with woodland mushrooms" for starters and try to keep your zipper up) and the owner is so outgoing he'll sing along with the music as he spins madly around your table.
As always, I dig all of Harlem, with its European-style boulevards, jazzy hangouts, friendly people, and amazing discount stores.
In fact, I'm desperate to buy an apartment at the Rosa Parks Condominium on St. Nicholas Avenue. I've always felt back of the bus anyway!
