Who's The Funniest Male Comic in Films Today?

• Marx Brothers Bill Murray Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (In my all-time favorite film Hot Fuzz) Monty Python Albert Brooks Actors who are not comics who I find hysterical: Kevin Kline Dustin Hoffman (I will defend his performance in Ishtar)

• I can't stand Ben Stiller. Please make him go away pronto!

• Steve Carell??? Are you kidding me? Glenn Beck plays a better douchebag than him

• Actors, not comedians: Daniel Auteuil - My Best Friend, The Invitation were funnier than any US movie from the last few years John Malkovich - Colour Me Kubrick was hysterical. Scripts are funny or not.

• The funniest guy in showbiz is Spongebob Squarepants, I mean REALLY!!!

• To me funny gets funnier when it's scary, and the last biological male to pull that off was Divine. Among non-males there still are a few, the old reliable Meryl for one. If you go beyond films there's Colbert, but TV restricts its performers unnecessarily. Now if it's strictly guys in films...Robert Downey maybe, sometimes? Much easier to just say none.

• How can anyone who plays the exact same role in every movie call themselves an "actor"??? Which everyone, except maybe Chris Rock, is guilty of.

• Mario Cantone is funny, I'll agree with that. His HBO (or was it Showtime?) special "Laugh Whore" from 2005 was hilarious! I still have it on my TiVo and watch it occasionally. His role in Sex and the City 2 was very small though, they didn't give him enough good stuff. Another funny guy is Dane Cook. At first, I thought he was funny....then, I graduated into the "Dane Cook is a douchebag" school... and then, after a four-hour drive with my boyfriend, listening to Dane Cook on his iPod, I fell in love again. (The other day, I turned to my boyfriend and said "He's talking with a lisp." So now, we think that he may be a friend of Dorothy.) Adam Sandler....meh, maybe 10-15 years ago he's funny, but now he's being shoved out of the way of these new guys. Don't even mention "The Hangover". I never saw it in the theatre, but I wouldn't want to. The trailers were painful enough.

• None of the above. I just saw Black Dynamite for the first time. Funniest movie since Airplane!

• I actually think Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson and Jason Segel have it over all these guys.

• Like Adam's movies the best and they have a "love everyman" type of sensibility, such a shame he's a Republican. Steve Carrell is not funny, I don't get him at all, nor do I like Will Farrell.

• The only guy on your list who is funny is Steve Carell but his character is wearing a little thin. Mario Cantone is the only one mentioned in the comments that can make you laugh till you cry (for me at least). The others pale in comparison to those who have gone to their final reward (Belushi, Farley, Candy, Kinison).

• After Sex and the City 2, I doubt anyone will write movies for Mario C.

• I'd like to see movies written by Paul Rudnick, say, for the likes of Nathan Lane and Mario Cantone. Lane is a true actor and Cantone is worth more than just comic relief.

• Saturday Night Live keeps cranking out these embarrassing, juvenile comics. Bring back Jerry lewis!

• Adam Sandler wipes the floor with all these guys. Least funny: Will Forte.

• Russell Brand is funny in very small doses. Will Ferrell is funny when he gets the right material. Seems like there's always a "but." I'd have to go with Carell as the one who's funniest without any buts.
