The Best Picture Oscar Will Go to...

Either The King's Speech or The Social Network.

Duh.

Neither has officially opened yet, but people are saying that The King's Speech, a Weinstein brothers historical epic with Colin Firth as King George VI and Helena Bonham Carter as Queen Elizabeth, is a wow, while David Fincher's The Social Network, about the inner hostility involved in the making of a site for friends, is a wow and a quarter.

So which will cop the gold?

The costume drama with pedigree oozing from every tailored cuff?

Or the kinda-now, kinda-wow tale of power and revenge, set in a milieu of young ambition?

I'll vote for the former since last year's Oscar went to something classily obscure rather than shinily popular.

And I'm right at least 37 percent of the time!
