"Bid Against Hunger" Helped the Homeless

This is going to be a nice item, so just bite your tongue and endure it for a few seconds.

Last night, I went to an event at the Metropolitan Pavilion called "Bid Against Hunger," which charged people to eat exquisite offerings like chicken-liver mousse and white fig gelato, and also to bid on various luxury items, all to help City Harvest, which feeds the homeless.

The sold-out event trotted out chefs and food experts from over 70 fine dineries, like Le Bernardin, Tribeca Grill, Craft, Blue Hill, Buttermilk Channel and Landmarc.

After two minutes, my mouth was too stuffed to even greet the chefs, but a lot of them seemed nice.

And giving back is so important -- now more than ever -- so I just wanted to applaud the whole thing with one hand while wiping away food stains with the other.
