The Scariest Moment From a Movie

• The final 15-20 minutes of Audition. More disgusting than scary but I dare you not to be in paralysis those final 15-20 minutes. Also when we first the tortured man in flinging himself across the screen in his body bag as the villain just stares blankly at the telephone for her gentleman caller who's fate is the final 15-20 minutes. All of the phone conversations in Black Christmas, especially the ending. Everything about The Birds frightened me as a child. The hobbling scene in Misery. The 'All work in and no play makes Jack a dull boy.', rinse and repeat from The Shining. All of Jesus Camp.

• Ending of Silence of the Lambs when you realize he in the ambulance

• The very end of Carrie, when she reaches up and out from her grave.

• The last ten minutes of "Requiem for a Dream."

• It's funny that Lucy Macgillicuddy should mention Deliverance. When I think of that stinky real hillbilly pumping Ned Beatty from behind, while encouraging him to squeal like a pig, it sends shivers down my spine. But the scariest thing is that it also sends an odd tingle in my nether region!

• The moment when the Wicked Witch of the West appears in a puff of smoke in "The Wizard of Oz" and shrieked "Who killed my sister?" Bitch was terrifying.

• I don't know why, but there was an early scene in the original Halloween when Jamie Lee was walking home from school. She sees Michael Myers up ahead, ducking into a bush. When she gets to the bush, he's not there. Then she turns around and bumps into a neighbor. I literally jumped up from the couch, and my older brother actually fainted. Never been scared more than that, before or since.

• I'll vote with charlufan for "Wait Until Dark" - a no blood no guts classic thriller. One of Audry Hepburn's best performances as a blind woman terrorized in her own New York apartment.

• There was a scene in Exorcist III (Yes, that movie.) in which an old woman who was a patient in the asylum crawls upside down across the ceiling. It was in the background and totally unexpected. It scared the crap out of me.

• The final moments in 'Wait Until Dark.'

• There are some good ones here (especially the original Exorcist--I was young and impressionable--did not sleep for days! Mine would be from 1963's The Haunting, When Julie Harris realizes that the hand she has been squeezing in the dark belonged to a ghost and not Claire Bloom.

• Deliverance -- when the forearm of the supposedly killed redneck in the water springs to the surface -- everyone in the theater screamed like a little girl (including me)

• The French film INSIDE...Christ, any of it.

• In 'The Ring' when the girl with the long black hair comes out of the tv and kills Naomi Watts boyfriend. Exactly how she killed people was never clear to me - and come to think of it, what did they have to lose by trying to fight the creepy little brat. Guess I'll have to think of something else.

• I have to say it's the moment in Rear Window when Thorvald (Raymond Burr) looks into the camera and sees... you.

• "The Sorcerer's Apprentice" from Fantasia. I saw it when I was about 6 & it just scared the crap out of me. Mickey Mouse got himself into a boatload of trouble...
