I wonder; do you think that a young gay journalist current finishing his studies at Columbia knowing well that he will become the next Peter Jennings but he's tormented because he can't come out due to a possible stall in his career progression would find this book trash...

Does he talk about the (late and much-missed) "Hollywood Kids" in his book? They kept track of his (shall we say) ROBUST sexual activities well before you became aware of them.

If Perez was so traumatized when he was outed, why is he now outing tons of people in his book???

(Same as before: To get attention. He stayed in the closet to further his career and now that he's washed up, he's naming names to get some career heat back.)

Jonesy, if you read the book Perez states that he was out of the close in his personal and family life without shame. However, he knew that during the onset of his rising career that he wouldn't have been accepted if he had come out professionally. His torment does not come from being gay as an individual, it come from wanting to be himself in his professional career as well.

Everything in Perez's career led him to this defining moment and being able to send this message out there can only open peoples eyes to the daily struggle that we as Gay men face on a day to day basis in the country. To all: READ THIS BOOK! It's inspiring.

As a father of an adopted son, let me assure you, the cost begins at the onset of adoption, somewhere around 30k, not to mention the cost of raising a child that might have otherwise been abondoned or a ward of the courts. That baing said, having a desire to raise a child in a loving home supercedes any monetary value. I understand same sex people cannot biologically create a child without assistance, but please be assured, we can certainly rear them, physically, spiritually, intellectually, and financially with the best of them.

I think you need to read the book so you can comprehend that he's a tortured soul, flinging barbs in all directions at anyone who didn't genuflect before him. There's not the slightest doubt that he would still be attempting to present a straight facade if it meant he could have a high-paying job as a news reader. The question is, will his gender problems (revealed by an ex in Miami) result in gender reassignment surgery. He probably would make an attractive Charlene Perez.

As a 50 year old, bitter, gay man, I'm all for outing gay men who stay in the closet to further their careers. But they are defiantly smarter than I ever will be.
