Guy Madison: A Hollywood God For Your Delectation

Categories: Featured

Guy Madison.902021.jpg

In the 1940s and 50s, Guy Madison was a genial but negligible actor with an amazing body of work, as it were.

Films like Since You Went Away and Till The End of Time were made that much more watchable whenever Guy's physical perfection and shy smile entered the frame.

Thanks to reader Greogry Moore, I've run mouth-watering montages of Guy before, but this one--also courtesy of Gregory--is easily the most aesthetically sublime yet.

In color, Guy is even better looking than without it, He's so impressive, in fact, that you have to just envy that dog that got between his legs.

Woof!

Guy Madison was probably the best looking that ever came out of Hollywood.......He knew ho was hot and used what God gave to him.....Looks.....  Cannot blame him at all.....Anyone breathing would have done the same if they looked like him....Too bad there are so many uglys on this planet......They have no chance to feel glory like guy did...

Had Mr. Madison been as good at acting as being beautiful, he could have easily been as popular and long lasting as Lancaster or Heston. But beauty fades, and bad acting won't get you many jobs, when the former is gone

Was Henry Wilson his agent?

Wikipedia says that Guy was born in "Pumkin Center, CA".

We were getting hot and heavy in the back seat of a car when we realized we'd be far less likely to get caught in my--I mean OUR--apartment. So we went home and did it in our usual bed. It was pretty vanilla, but the next night it was back to dank public places and assorted vehicles.

I think it was Roy Calhoun and Tab Hunter who were going at it in a car which was in LA on some quiet street at night.

Didn't he have a "genial" cowboy series on tv back then? I seem to remember he played Wild Bill Hickok.

I read Hofler's book about Henry Willson, who suffered a tragic and humiliating end, abandoned by all the pretty boys he groomed and groped up the ladder of success. It was pretty steamy. His new one - about Alan Carr - is pretty steamy too.

In his book, "The Man Who Invented Rock Hudson," writer Robert Hofler quotes a "source" who happened upon Guy Madison being topped in the backseat of a car by Rory Calhoun. True or not, it certainly creates quite a mental image! I can't give the exact quote, as I "loaned" the book to someone who never returned it (grrrr). But it's an extremely "names-names"-y book and is quite an interesting read. You can get a used copy on Amazon for 12 bucks...worth it!

Guy was married to Gail Russell ("The Uninvited"), a drunk before she was 30 and wasn't he "handled" by agent Henry Willson, whose infamous talent roster included Rock, Tab, and many other pretty boys? It was his secretary that Rock married.

Check out Robert Hofler's book "The Man Who Invented Rock Hudson" and fall in love with Guy Madison. I knew about him from www.briansdriveintheater.com. Then I read the book. Loved the part with Guy and Rory Calhoun in the backseat.

He seems like a piece of cardboard, but a very beautiful one.

gay, straight, or bi--what's the scoop, if any?

Most of those photos were taken 65 years ago and IMO no man in show business or modeling has ever topped Guy for sheer physical beauty combined with a shy, un-self-conscious quality. And a gorgeous body too. Whoa!

Yes...Guy was then named Robert Moseley and was a 22-year old Coast Guard when Willson spotted him and signed him to David O. Selznick, changed his name and set him on his way to a big career. Exactly what Guy/Robert had to do to get that career, I guess that's up for speculation...but use your imagination....

No, it WAS (supposedly) Rory Calhoun who was spotted servicing Guy in his Jaguar. Apparently, Wilson used to drive around late at night to make sure none of his stars were up to no good!! One stormy night he stopped by Rory Calhoun's house and spotted Guy's Jaguar parked on the drive. The story goes that the car was rocking back and forth and when Wilson crept up to see what was happening, he saw Rory giving Guy a good seeing to! Believe it if you will

Nope...according to this book, it was definitely Guy and Rory. Rory, by the way, was no slouch in the looks department himself (Rory in link #1, Rory with Guy in link #2, though not in the backseat of a '47 DeSoto, unfortunately...who do you suppose is on the phone, and what are they saying??)http://s29.photobucket.com/alb...¤t=617c0d74.jpg http://s29.photobucket.com/alb...¤t=f5aa176b.jpg

Yup...the show was "The Adventures of Wild Bill Hickok," which ran from '51 to '58.

what matter if he was gay straight or purple?  Did you enjoy him as a movie performer? You should not be concerned with his personal life.....Frankly its none of your business...     Do you think he would have cared about yours?

I could not agree more. I've watched his bad acting many times in "Till The End of Time" just to see him jitterbug,(badly) w/ that girl.(LOL)Good thing for photography, so we can always remember these people at their most beautiful.

Thanks Gregorama. My family got television late, so I only saw a couple of seasons, but I was mad for him.
