Christie Brinkley Singing and Dancing?

brinkley sings.jpg
When it was announced last week that model-turned-divorcee Christie Brinkley was going to play Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago revival, someone on "All That Chat" posted the immortal comment, "World to end. Story at 11."

But the woman can kinda sorta dance right? After all, she strutted around that classic "Uptown Girl" video without falling down.

And she can sing too, no? Um, kinda sorta.

Check out this clip from Extra of Christie playfully attempting the unlikely choice of "America" from West Side Story and see if she's the new Callas--or just plain callous.

Bear in mind that Christie herself ends the clip by saying, "Simon Cowell, I don't really think I can sing.

"But you know what?

"Nobody can shut me up!"

Both female parts were desinged not to be atheltic.I've done Chicago several times through the mid west. It's still a good book for a musical.(I'm sure it trumps the lyon king)

"Has she ever done Broadway before?" I doubt she's even SEEN Broadway before.

Has she ever done Broadway before? Seems like a disaster in the making. At least she's not playing Velma.

While the blog has provided some of the frustrated and unhappy among us to spread their cloud cover, I maintain that Christie will do Roxy Hart total justice in her portrayal and will have a blast in the process!!! I loved Christie in her campy appearences in a number of Billy's videos and I believe she was only in "Summer Vacation" for a few minutes and she certainly received a lot of fanfare for that little role then and even today. 'Chicago" will be even better with Christie's enthusiasm and humor!!! YIPPPPEEEEE!!

Don't fret! A bright and cute in-shape woman can be taught to do stuff. Like Torti says, she can be worse than...(insert any number of clunkers in parts.) A great belting voice is prime on Broadway, but there's all kinds of other singing that works, especially in shows.

She seems to have a good sense of humor about it, but didn't Broadway used to have higher standards?

Ugh. She's godawful but still a looker. She can't be worse than Melanie Griffith in the part.
