I knew Joey way back in the early 90s, right about the time he started getting really into the drugs. We were all at this club and a group of us decided to head back to Sharon Kanes house just off Santa Monica not very far from the Spike Bar can't recall the street name... anyway Sharon was not there that night but she always had a room for the boys. We were sitting in this booth table pretty much doing coke and drinking all night while joey was in the bedroom having sex with this guy and his fist. He kept coming out for lines and then he'd go right back to playing. I wound up hooking up with Matt Gunther that night. He was another sweetie that left too soon.

I knew Joey when he was still living in Philadelphia. Joey was sweet guy who had many issues. And you are so right, Joey had no filter. Perhaps, that was also part of charm.

(Any help is tremendously appreciated. His Philadelphia life is quite the mystery.)

I just came across this trying to find the whearabouts of Nick's sister Linda. I met him in Las Vegas at the Sahara as part of the then consumer electronics show and his sex scapades almost closed down that part of the show. I myself was a street hustler also coming from Pa. Williamsport in 77 after seeing an expose on street prostitution on 60 min's. I however relish my time at the Gaslight and spotlight and turning tricks on Santa monica after Selma was shut down. I never went to the Gold Cup but did turn tricks out of Arthur J's on Highland. I 2 have written my memoies of that time including the Bob Mizer era. but the 70's early 80's were simpler times. I knew when it was time to clock out. But 4 me they were great times. Joey was not a snob like most of the Catalina Bill Higgins guys. He would have done great had he worked with Bill Scheffler during the Nova tears.

This book (and movie) may well show that the Gay 90s ended almost as soon as they began, with Joey's death, perhaps, as the sign of what was to come...

It's a fantastic book.. as someone who joined the industry (also as a power bottom) months after Joey's death (although at the time I had never heard of him) I can attest that there were after effects that lasted for years specifically a zero tolerance for drugs of any sort on set. Later, when the book came out, reading about people I worked with and knew socially was a trip. Really looking forward to the movie; such a tragic story (Diors story is less dramatic but just as tragic really).

The only three actors we have cast at this point are Ryan O'Connor as "Chi Chi La Rue/ Larry," Missi Pyle as "Sharon Kane" and Willam Belli as "Karen Dior/ Geoff."

The casting of "Joey" is tricky and we're going to wait to cast him once we have an exact "go" date for shooting, since a number of the actors on the list are on television shows at the moment and hiatus can be tricky. And we're still firming up the our funding.

But I'm a huge Trevor Donovan fan...

It's a true-life biopic focusing on the life of Joey Stefano, as told to me by the people who knew him. As it happens, the supporting players around him were predominantly white, but there are also non-white roles in the script. The main story is about how addiction killed Nick Iacona. Not whitewashing the porn industry.
