Pat Field Clarifies Her "In Praise of Galliano" Remarks

Categories: John Galliano

patricia field.jpg

Patricia Field is a legend who's done the clothes for Sex and the City, Ugly Betty, and basically all of downtown.

Earlier today, I ran her official statement about the John Galliano anti-Semitism brouhaha, Pat stating:

"Beauty, intelligence, and energy would describe John as I know him. Where in this trilogy could one find hate, I ask you!

"My second question is: What exactly did he say? And the third is: What is really going on here??"

Well, we all went bananas over this defense, but Pat Field has contacted me with an explanation.

Here it is, in her words:

"Before I throw myself on the band wagon of 'off with his head,' my education in school and in life has taught me to get all of the facts in detail.

"Those facts are not out as I see them.

"Just for the record, I don't like Hitler and Iike Jewish people as I like all people from everywhere.

"I want the opportunity to hear what John has to say, particularly about the one-year old video that was sold to The Sun.

"Is this part ok?

"I repeat, I am not anti-Semitic and I am a personal friend of John Galliano's."

Ironic that Galliano says he loves Hitler when he's off his face yet those characters in that piece of crap TV movie that won an Oscar for best film "The Kings Speech" in reality never shut up about how much they loved Hitler - and they were sober. Nothing bad was written about Hitler in the London Times till he invaded Poland. Those Royal inbreds loved him. Hitler was getting Germany back on track after WW1 and the economically ravaging repararations. - And best of all finally doing something about those hideous jews who owned all the private industry and wealth in germany and basically treated the german people like crap. A bit like now in America in fact. Cut the bullshit! Galliano is fucking genius. We kill all great artists who dare speak the truth!!! And the worst part is - there ain't too many great artists alive left to kill.Oh and yeah - 90% of Jews are not semetic people. They are Khazars from Europe who converted to Judaism in the 8th century. Quit being sheeple led by zionist propagana.

I get it, he's terrible for making anti Semitic remarks, but what the hell is going on with his hat in that video? Very disheartening...read more @imeanwhat http://bit.ly/hNh87R

She lost a great opportunity to stay quiet. There are actually 3 people saying he offended them at the same place and a very clear video and she is still trying to squeeze an excuse to "praise him". Go to hell! The last thing Galliano needs right now is praise. Absurd.

It's awful what John said, utterly vile and yet it is quite obvious his mind was addled by booze or other substances. He can barely speak in that terrible, damning video clip. It's hard to defend him but I hope he gets help and is able at some point to make some kind of statement of apology. He can only apologize, as there is no other defense for what he said. Is it wrong of me to want him to live? I hope not.

LOL wow a drunk defending another drunk, there's a shocker. Fuck Galliano and who gives a rats ass what his "friends" have to say about his anti-semitic rant. Thank god at least those who pay his salary know better and fired his dumb ass.

So just because Galliano can't actually bring Hitler back, we're to excuse his words?

Neo-Nazis can't bring Hitler back either.

Explain the difference of so many Christians saying "People like you gays are going to Jesus-Auschwitz to be personally waterboarded and gassed by Jesus every single day for eternity, And your parents and grandparents too". The Supreme Court has just said (including two jews on board) that is not restricted hate speech and 100% legal everywhere in America. So explain the difference.

I can give her the benefit of the doubt. I certainly don't have any reason to believe she hates Jews but with that said, I wish she would have refrained from commenting on his behalf. It just didn't come off right. BTW- I don't care if his rant was a year old or sold. He said it and he was caught apparently more than once.

As though anything Patricia Field says is of any importance to anyone anywhere any time. She's entitled to her opinions and the rest of us are entitled to ignore her babble, which is as ugly and incomprehensible as her clothes.

It's a shame that she would say that. We all have seen the video & altho he may have been arguing with someone or just had too many drinks, it's his reasponsibilty as a public person to be appropiate & respectable end of story.

If Galliano can bring Hitler back from the dead to gas you and your parents, you have a lot more to worry about besides feeling insulted. Does anybody think a drunk Galliano can bring back Hitler? Is that the core of your "offendedness"? I look at it as the same as being told by some Baptist that "Jesus is going to personally throw me in hell and torture me for all eternity if I dance". It's so silly it is not even a threat.

RustyT
RustyT

I missed the part where Galliano threatened to revive Hitler, and this was viewed as some sort of threat. But I did hear you try to defend him by pointing out that he didn't use the word "Jew" specifically. How disingenuous and pathetic. Who do you think he meant when he says "Your mothers, your forefathers would be fucking gassed and fucking dead"? The vast majority of those killed in the camps were Jews, something John Galliano knows as well as anybody, which is why he didn't even need to specify.

The fact that you can mock people for their "offendedness" speaks volumes about you.

The_Liann
The_Liann

How serious a threat was it? He apologized and the ADL accepted it completely as fully satisfactory. So the only one spewing hate today is you.

The_Liann
The_Liann

To RustyT: You still fail to understand how your actions are far more damaging in real ways to John Galliano's drunken spew. Him, I can dismiss because he was drunk. You are sober, so there is no excuse. Balancing the damages: on the one hand is dismissing the drunk with slap to his face, on the other hand blowing it up so large that not only is the Dior collection just shown to be sold NEXT FALL, 2011, is tainted and unwearable, but the SPRING-SUMMER collection shown last November for sale in the weeks ahead is also unwearable and unsalable. The Dior company and also the Galliano company is majority owned by a Jewish man, so he gets hit by $20,000,000 in lost sales. Every woman whop owns a Dio dress less than 15 years old cannot wear it now, BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU who had to make it so big that you destroyed many millions of dollars of value of ownership.

You could have said he was stupid and drunk and I'm done with him, or you could keep making it bigger and bigger and bigger until YOUR ACTIONS made it impossible for any of those Jewish investors in the House of Dior to have any value left.

Congratulations. You just killed $30, or $40 million worth of Jewish value by crucifying an ambushed man caught in a vulnerable state. So you turn out to be a lot more anti-Jewish than Galliano could ever be.

RustyT

Good for him, Galliano has shown true remorse and a willingness to get better. I hope that he makes it.

I was calling you out for your ridiculous stance that 1. Galliano's ranting wasn't anti-Semitic and 2. nobody should be offended. Galliano understands that his words were anti-Semitic and offensive (thus the apology), but you do not.

It's been fun, though. I have so enjoyed this brush with the sheer awesome power of your contrarian intellect.

The guy is filmed in a public bar telling strangers he loves hitler and (thinking they're Jewish) that they should be gassed — and she's asking, "What exactly did he say?"

Then she adds the unbelievably condescending, "I don't like Hitler and Iike Jewish people."

Keep digging that grave, Pat. To think that I liked this stupid twit.

The_Liann
The_Liann

Galliano is sober now but you are still drunk. Listen again. Write down what he says, exactly, precisely. Not what "they" told you that he said, but what he actually said.

Loving Hitler is not particularly anti-semite -- among other victims of the world war that Hitler started there were 20,000,000 aryans killed. Hitler could stand as the anti-aryan icon for all time. He not only killed three times more aryans, but he humiliated them by getting them defeated by "inferior races". The very slavs he hoped to enslave conquered Berlin, and the mongrel races banded together to give the aryans a good thumping.

The word jew never appears in the video. No substitute anti-semite word appears.

An excessively drunk man is ambushed and harassed until he spews profanity, looking for hurtful words, not whatever he may actually believe, but words that are chosen for cruelty purpose as a weapon against his mockers. It is unclear how the altercation began because it is already an argument about John Galliano's "blond hair" by the time they show us the part which they didn't censor.

I am writing down what he says. "I love Hitler. People like you would be dead today. Your mothers, your forefathers would be fucking gassed and fucking dead." They ask,"Do your have a problem?" and he replies,"With you? Yeah, you're ugly." I appreciate the fact that Hitler hated all sorts of people and in the video I saw, you are correct that he does not say "Jew." But these people were Italian. Is he saying he hates Italians? I realize you have points to make in this discussion that are more about correcting what you must feel are some common misconceptions about Hitler, but regardless of that you can't excuse this behavior as simply looking for hateful language to use. The most likely explanation for his remarks is that he believed the women to be Jewish. But whatever he thought, no one can drive someone to say those things. He was very drunk and he was annoyed, and he should have left if he was to that point. I don't think what he said should be illegal but it's still indefensible,

To the post below in reply to me. It is illegal under French law. I should have said it is"morally indefensible." Anything is legally defensible. He has released a statement that clarifies his position, and says he is entering rehab. He fails to address the "I love Hitler" statement, but I guess he's relying on people not actually seeing the video. I addressed the provocation issue. The "illegal recording" issue is silly. He is in public looking directing his words at the camera. Surely it's not illegal to record a person committing a crime, as he is, under French law.

The_Liann
The_Liann

I don't think what he said is illegal, and if it is not illegal, under FRENCH LAW, then it is defensible. What he said was patently stupid. Nobody thinks Galliano can raise the dead, anymore than we believe that "GOD HATES FAGS" preacher-guy when he says people like Galliano will be gassed by Jesus for all eternity at the Jesus-Auschwitz. People say patently stupid things all the time. Galliano was clearly being baited. You did not write down the FULL conversation in progress which was begins about his non-blond-hair. It is not possible to determine who brought up the subject of aryan features first, but he is being pressed and annoyed, and suddenly notices a camera recording him, looks into it, and sprays expletives.

So yes, it is defensible, on the grounds that provocations are recorded, including possibly illegal video recording. Europe laws are stricter about privacy than ours and people expect some privacy in dinner bars. Finding the meanest things to say is defensible if it is provoked. Did he say anything worth losing millions of dollars of income? I don't think so, but these two events are conflated in such a way as this video is presented as if it was from last week. Somebody ambushed a drunk and sold the video for a fortune which destroyed millions of dollars in his income. He has a legal defense and a right to use it.

In my country we say that DRUNK PEOPLE DONT EAT SHIT (literally!) Which means being drunk was not excuse for that rant (Galliano's) and he is inside that we see!!! that comes up stronger when he is drunk.... But Hilter could have fixed a pink david's star on his Galliano's ass on his way to the oven, if Galliano was living in Germany back in the day!Beauty and shit can be together !!!
