Kathie Lee and I Battle It Out Over The Book of Mormon

Categories: Book of Mormon

MORMONS.jpg

Yes, Today show host Kathie Lee Gifford and I are the focal points of the print campaign for the smash Broadway musical The Book of Mormon!

That's the one about Mormons going to Uganda and spreading lies, which results in the Ugandan natives putting on a fabulous musical revue!

Anyway, on the cover of the New York Times Arts & Leisure section, the above ad ran, really big.

On the left side of the ad is Kathie Lee's immortal quote:

"This is NOT a family show."

On the right side is my own plaintive remark:

"DEAR GOD, how do I get tickets?"

I think both quotes will prove to be box-office gold -- especially hers.

If someone is offended by this, why not laugh since that's the point? All this anger is ridiculous.

I love how respectful Musto is to God by starting his request with a Dear...God instead of a Hey you God.

Yeah, Curt, and if you haven't seen the show, how would you know that this is a misrepresentation???

Dear Curt:And what review are you referring to, moron? There is no review here, just quotes from two people. You have the nerve to criticize something as stupid??? Did you mean the one-sentence sardonic plot synopsis? Ugh. Stick with "Mamma Mia." Your idiotic mind will be much happier there.

Most inaccurate review I've read. Really, really stupid misrepresentation of the show. I really want to see this show, due largely to the other reviews I've read.

This is the same self-lovin' self-promotin' dame that endorsed the recent (and soon-to-be-closed) and cringe-worthy calamity 'Cactus Flower.'

Ooo! That was a fun movie with a young Goldie and old Ingrid!

People who say "it's gross and offensive" at Book of Mormon are just the kind of dummies the show is lampooning. Do you think they wrote "Fuck you God in the cunt, nose, and eye" to NOT be gross and offensive??? That's the point. That's what they dabble in. And they're hilarious.

What next--will you yell at the sky "Blue! Blue!"?

I think I am in the minority but I found the musical offensive.

I knew the show's big song "Fuck God in the cunt" would divide people!

Who says there will never be another Gershwin?!

"Not a family show"? Meaning her cheating husband and exploited kids wouldn't like it?

PS: I met Kathie Lee a few years ago at a Broadway event and we hit it off. She really loves Broadway.

Yes, I get quoted in anything involving "penis" or "cunt".

Didn't "Puppetry of the Penis" use the same dueling quotes?
