Rosie O'Donnell Responds to My Chris Brown Blog

Categories: Rosie O'Donnell

220px-Rosie_O'Donnell_by_David_Shankbone.jpg
The one in which I quoted her radio remarks saying that Chris Brown may be getting some racist treatment in the media.

For those who didn't see the comment she left on that particular blog, I print it here in full.

"here is what i think michael musto

yes chris brown and rihanna had a violent relationship
sadly many children who are raised in violent homes
as chris and rihanna were
grow up to replicate the pain they have lived.
they had a fight in the car
both had wounds
rihanna's blacked eye
swollen sad face
was heartbreaking to see
for every woman every child that has ever been hit

he hit her
chris brown turned himself in
he released a statement -

'Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired.' Brown released a two-minute video on his official YouTube page apologizing to fans and Rihanna for the domestic altercation, expressing the incident as his 'deepest regret' and saying that he has repeatedly apologized to Rihanna and 'accepts full responsibility'

he did all that was expected of him
he was commended by the judge

he spoke to larry king for an hour
with his mother
spoke of the pain and past
the how and the now

he eventually gave robin roberts an in depth 20/20 interview
where he spoke all about the entire rhianna abuse incident

is it unreasonable of chris to assume
that he could now
2 years later
release his cd without having to focus on that day

i assume he trusted robin
show biz trust -
u think u r on the same side
be careful

- having interviewed celebrities for 6 years
- that a segment producer told the publicist there would be one mention maybe
- but then it was ALL about the cd - FAME

do u think chris was nervous?
he looked nervous to me?
he looked like a teenager
do u think he felt safe
live on tv?
do u think he was prepared to once again talk in depth about rihanna?

so they roll the tape
and there it is in the intro
and they r back live
first ? out -
robin asks a long winded one
about the restraining order...
and then goes on to bring it up 6 more times.

and he sat hunched over - with new white hair
and i wanted to hug him
like his mom did - i bet

shame
yes chris brown has shame
we all do

me - u - chris and robin

he was then able to perform his song -
which he did
he went back to the dressing room -
and cursed and yelled and threw some furniture around
a chair hit a window - it broke - no one was hurt
he took off his shirt - and walked away from the studio

my point
maybe not well said on the radio

yes there r strands of racism running thru here
of young black men
seen nightly in handcuffs on the local news
of the thug/angel paradigm tupac lived

ji never met chiris brown
i never knew his music
i bought his cd last week
i bought rihanna's too

this is reality tv

i have no desire to b right
this is only how i feel

maybe angry that robin did not have his back
but perhaps expects me to have had hers
point is
we r all brown

chris or jackson

compassion - understanding - the only goal"

I was watching the view today. The guest was Chris Noth. He has been accused of beating his ex, model, Beverly Johnson AND she's suing him. It was never brought up. Why?

That doesn't really check out. Do you have a link?

Racist? It becomes racist only when Ms O'Donnell brings it up. Brown should have to carry his CRIME with him through life and it should be inscribed on his tombstone.

I pictured Robin with a knife that day, stabbing at him for 'the story',,,, I THINK GMA messed up big time. Chris Brown should be allowed to move on.

Haiku explanation for a conversation that requires depth? Depth was missing. Anyone can say "have compassion". That's easy.

i expected this to be real unforgiving, coming from rosie, and seeing it's about a man beating a woman..but rosie is showing compassion for both here.forgiving chris doesnt mean condoning what he did..but we owe it to him and rihanna to move on.

Cases like this are fun in their way because everyone's guilty of what the other side says: The scummy, ratings hungry, probably racist, borderline sociopathic, imo, TV show set him up, and he got off the air and acted out in rage again. He had every right to be angry: To tell the interviewer off or to get his pr people to release a statement about it later - without the property damage and rage, i.e., anger out of control. But that's in an ideal world.

I agree with Rosie, know one is condonig the actions of Chris two years ago. However he took responsibility lets all move on. Who are we to scrutinize every single action or reaction this young man has for the rest of his life..

"this is reality tv

and someone is worried about this enough to argue? She's a mess. Her fight with Trump was pretty cool but she's basically a big ball of rage.

Brown says he takes full responsibility for what happened. Maybe part of that is the loss of his career? Taking responsibility is all or nothing.

# in reply to wademsroc #2 FINISHING PREVIOUS COMMENT #3 This is it!! FInal Statement. In high insight this is Ridiculous, all of it. Believe it or not I have a non-profit called HELPfromNYC.org (Humanitarian Efforts Lifting People) Life is about more important things than this shit!! Getting together to helping people who lack basic human needs and that is my mission. I am just defending a friend who was attacked unnecessarily. I don't even go on the computer but a friend sent me this link and know I work at ABC so it ruffled my feathers for Robin, not ABC. KNOW THAT!!!!!!Anyway enough, I'm fucking tired and can barley manage navigating around.Sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings, that's not me. Just do something good for someone and I will forget this all.best,Michael Van Burgergood night, morning...

There's no vile anger from the comments, "she's just saying she understands where it came from and why it happened" Let's cut to the chase once and for all. My last comment as you people are not seeing or choosing not to see Rosie's runaround "feelings".Do you think for one second if she was still on the view and he was on she would not have brought it up? Please!!! Also Rosie talks about trusting Robin, I know her, she is to be trusted. You and your tirades Rosie are not to be trusted, your outburst, your CLEAR lack of unpredictability Michael Musto was right in your show was great in the early years. That was CLEARLY a different person. You say "he went back to the dressing room -and cursed and yelled and threw some furniture arounda chair hit a window - it broke - no one was hurthe took off his shirt - and walked away from the studio". I work there in the hair and makeup department so no it did not happen like that. He through the ONLY FUCKING OUT OF CONTROL TEMPER TANTRUM, with VIOLENCE. He RIPPED his shirt off, not "he took off his shirt" folded it and put it away too right? Also "he walked away from the studio", yeah right!!! He ran his ass out so fucking fast followed by his posse. ABC should have had call the police and him taken to JAIL. But no, fame let's uncivilized dangerous behavior go without the consequences of their actions all too often. Why you Rosie are choosing to play this down is beyond me.... I know "its how you feel".AND YES WE ARE ALL BROWN CHRIS, JACKSON, MICHAEL and so on. We are all our own person and his reaction was NOT Robin's fault, his and his only. Yes we are human blah blah blah. Fact's are Fact's not how you feel..Rosie stand up and stop sugar coating it, choose something worth talking about, like your friend Madonna's All Girl Academy in Malawi that never happened. Let's deal with REAL issues that HELP people who truly need it. Believe it or not I have a non-profit called HELPfromNYC.org to help impoverished people all over the world. HELP stands for Humanitarian Efforts Lifting People. Let's put more focus on people who have no basic human needs. Watch my documentary and then make a conclusion about me, I don't make much money and saved $20,000 to go to Africa to help real issues.. I'm just stating how I feel. Are you a Gemini Rosie?

I will not be back, I don't even go on computers and someone sent me the link and it got me work up as Robin is a COMPASSIONATE person and I felt the need to say what I feel, just like you...Best, really,Michael Van Burger

Wow! The vile anger coming from the comments is amazing! Rosie isn't condoning Chris's actions she is just saying she understands where it came rom and why it happened. And yes, we have been conditioned to believe the angry black man myth, and there is a disportionate amount of black men in prison. Chris Brown was lied to and ambushed. Looks like he does need a refresher on the anger management issue and learn how to deal with someone who insists on pushing your buttons. Hopefully he will continue to grow and deal with the help of therapy. I wish him peace.

FINISHING PREVIOUS COMMENT- consequences. Really you wanted a reaction you got one. How about a reaction with Madonna not completing her all girls academy in Malawi? Now that's a subject worth talking about!!!!! Not questions Robin asked a mufti-millionaire with an EGO so big and out of control. What will happen to ALL those little girls who were depending on Madonna who lack basic human needs? An education? A role model? Oh they will still be involved in Raising Malawi, we shall see. Go after her.MY FINAL comment as I do not even ever use the computer much only a friend sent me a link of Rosie's radio comment's and I know Robin and felt the need to stand up for her and WHAT"S MORE IMPORTANT IN LIFE? Believe it or not I have a non-profit, HelpfromNYC.org, there's a documentary of what's important in the world not this!!I hope your new talk show is not tabloid like your current comments and had REAL issues at hand Rosie. I always expect more of you. Your ability to verbalize things and enlighten with the truth totally changed my vision and way of thinking. I am proud to say that you won me over to the liberal side!!!! Keep on - keeping on!!! NO EXCUSE ROSE, COME ON.....STOP ALREADY.... You know the BULLSHIT POLITICS at ABC, ROBIN was doing her JOB.....YES, JOB.. It's not the VIEW!!! I work there, see it all, know it all. I know this is how you feel but there are certain EXPECTATIONS and of course PROTOCOL. You know that first hand. I am a fan of yours, I even sat next to you once at a play and we talked. I just read your book and LOVED it. Robin is a KIND, LOVING human being and would not have asked unless PUSHED!!! She's not YOU! I'm just saying he has to accept his behavior for what is thrown at him regardless.. Yes he's 21 but when you want ATTENTION and FAME you pay a price, exposure of your PAST, PRESENT, and FUTURE!!! I know in time he will handle it differently but SORRY, why are you not bringing up MADONNA responsibility for opening up the girls academy in Malawi? She's your friend, that's why. That is MUCH MORE OF AN ISSUE THAN YOU TALKING ABOUT ROBIN'S QUESTIONS TO CHRIS BROWN. COME ON? REALLY? Anyway I think you got what you were looking for which is ATTENTION, conscious or unconsciously? What do you think?I do like you, I know you don't care but I am a fan of your inner strength and suffering. I have it too.Good luck with your talk show....Michael Van Burger

What I really respect is Rosie's insightful approach that a bully is also a victim, whose remorse does not translate well in the public eye, but yet it is ultimately a healing in the public eye that ultimately must happen if he is going to recover from what he does that is so negative and why. Right now Chris Brown is continuing his downward spiral.

It's all based on the fact that Chris Brown's CD is selling. Big time. I turned the channel when he appeared on Dancing with the Stars. Interesting that Rosie doesn't mention anything about Adam Lambert being banned from GMA and DWTS because he kissed a boy. Anger = Good. Kisses = Bad.

Rosie, give it a rest. From someone with anger control issues, ya don't really come across as credible. Love you but you do act like a fat person sometimes, all will and push, push, push until the rest of us give up in exhaustion.

If it's any consolation to Chris and his enablers/defenders: Charlie got booed off the stage :)Charlie Sheen booed off stage in live debut

Agence France-PresseFirst Posted 11:53:00 04/03/2011

Filed Under: Celebrities, Television, Entertainment (general)DETROIT – Troubled US actor Charlie Sheen was booed off stage Saturday in a chaotic start to a live show mini-tour, a month after being sacked from his megahit TV show.

Fans started walking out within 20 minutes of the start of the "Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is not an Option" debut show in Detroit, which ended after barely an hour when Sheen failed to return following a musical break.

"It was the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life," said Jennifer Pyryt, 26, as as fans streamed out of the Fox theater, many of them booing and doing thumbs-down signs. "The show was horrible."

"I don't think it was put together very well," added Mary, 41, saying things started going wrong when the unpredictable Sheen tried to make a joke about Detroit's reputation.

"If he had not mentioned Detroit as a crack town, or the stealing of cars…he turned a lot of people off," she said.

Sheen was sacked last month from the hit TV series "Two and a Half Men" after criticizing its producers in a series of rambling media outbursts which Warner Brothers called the actor "dangerously self-destructive conduct."

The 45-year-old, son of actor Martin Sheen, then became an Internet sensation after launching a Twitter feed which now has 3.4 million followers, and an online webstreamed show, "Sheen's Korner."

At the same time he announced his plans for the live tour, which now has more than 20 scheduled dates over the next month, after tickets for the first gigs sold out within 18 minutes.

Before Saturday's Detroit show fans had sung Sheen's praises, wearing "Warlock" T shirts and shouting his "Winning" mantra for television cameras gathered outside the theater.

But the mood afterwards was a mixture of disappointment and anger, with some fans talking about asking for their money back.

"Charlie's a big fraud. It was unbelievable, it was the worst show I've seen in my life," said another man, declining to give his name, as he and other headed off into the night.

Sheen's next show is due Sunday evening in Chicago.

Rosie, stop talking like you are the white Oprah.

Chris Brown is a thug. He beat Rhianna and will prob beat other women and men before long. If he had CLASS or any shred of intelligence he would realize that what he did would follow him for the foreseeable future due to the nature of the press. Instead of talking about it simply and moving on he behaved like an a**hole.

His temper tantrum and glass smashing proves that anger management did nothing.

I am surprised he did not call Robin a "f*cking dyke" and punch her out.

It seems like Rosie is being more compassionate to Chris Brown for his violence than she was to Barbara Walters for her behavior during an altercation Rosie had with the Donald.

Mvanburger

True, say we start asking Rosie about her friend Madonna's commitment to open a girl's academy in Malawi where people are dying for lack of basic human needs? She would rather comment on Chris Brown, SAD!!!

miguel3
miguel3

Harsh picture. She had an agenda running through her comment seems to me.Oh, the burden of celebrity, no one understands.Bull. His temper tantrum could have escalated to horrible disfigurement or worse for someone under the flying glass.Sorry, no excuse for repeated violence.

RC61Austin
RC61Austin

Rosie conveniently glossed over the fact that there was significant glass that fell down onto the street/sidewalk. "But no one got hurt?" It's easy to say that, when that falling glass could have easily caused great injury to an innocent person. "But no one got hurt"? As far as people being paraded on TV for crimes...usually the reason is....they committed a crime! Robin Roberts has no earthly reason to "have Chris Brown's back." Good gosh, talk about a sense of entitlement! Maybe "some" celebrities get used to that soft treatment? (E.T. anyone?) Maybe Rosie would feel different about Chris Brown if SHE had been on the receiving end of that fallen glass?

Mvanburger
Mvanburger

Yes all that is true and "a lot" of celebrities get VERY used to soft treatment. I work there and Rosie knows the deal, it's reaction she seeks. What about Madonna not opening the school for girls in Malawi? That is much more of a discussion than Chris Brown. She knows how to ruffle feathers, shes taking over for Oprah..I do like Rosie believe it or not, just not this reaction she had.

Chris Torres
Chris Torres

significant glass? really? it's architectural glass, non hazardous..you could walk on the shards and not cut yourself..next!

Rodney
Rodney

Doesn't matter what kind of glass it was, if the glass had actually broken, or even if someone had gotten hurt. What matters is that he had a violent reaction, that he was unable to control his anger in a healthy way. That's a sure sign that he hasn't changed and none of his "classes" have helped him. So Rosie O'donnell and the rest of Chris Brown fans can sit around and make excuses for him saying it's about racism and the past is the past, but I'm going to show him some compassion and tell him to get back to counseling for his anger issues before we find out he's beat down his current girlfriend. Most abusive people don't change, but it's still a possibility.

Manburger
Manburger

I'm going to tell you what Rosie would most likely say since your such a fan, YOUR AN IDIOT. I work there and it is GLASS. No patience for STUPIDITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SMASH A HUGE GLASS VASE AND SWALLOW IT... It's the same as walking on it and not cutting yourself....

La Grand Puta
La Grand Puta

Wake up people! The media is there only to charge it's advertisers as much as it can. Ratings mean they can charge more!ABC would have LOVED it if someone got hit by falling glass and got injured! Cha-Ching, the RATINGS that would have brought in! That would make Chris Brown an attempted murderer! They would take that and run with it for weeks... They wanted this reaction which is why they set him up and got TONS of free publicity out of it. What's another life ruined as long as they make bank for their 'stockholders'?

Barbara
Barbara

There are no strains of racism. Is is unreasonable to hold someone accountable for their past behavior? Is it unreasonable to ask if they have learned and grown? I don't think so. Many people no longer hold the youth accountable so they never learn from their mistakes. He took anger management classes but it does not seem as if he has learned anything. If he wants people to look past the incident with Rihanna, then maybe he should show growth and maturity. I believe that in this case Ms. O'Donnell was irresponsible in raising the spectre of racism. She has trivialized the actual incidents of racism that still occurs. And for that I am very disappointed in her.

La Grand Puta
La Grand Puta

He and his publicist were told there may be only one question about Rihanna and the entire interview BEFORE he was to perform his song was about the incident. That was the network setting him up. That was definitely racism at it's most base. Subtle. Let's make the thug look bad, let's downgrade him, let's get some ratings out of it too.ABC got plenty of free publicity from his post interview antics and it helped them keep up the myth that men of color are still angry thugs. They ran all over the internet with that one. Obviously he's trying to move on. His cd has hit number 1 which means he has some talent and has been able to personally move forward but the MEDIA and their whores won't let him.

Rodney
