Sleeping Pills: Which Are The Best?

No, they're not the seven dwarves.

They're popular sleeping pills that enable you to get your beauty rest and wake up a supermodel.

I'm lucky I have no problem sleeping without help.

In fact, it's my favorite thing to do, and I'm really good at it!

But for decades, an army of Americans has developed that's poignantly become dependent on capsules just to lie down and get some rest.

All that shut-eye is positively eye-opening!

Well, if you absolutely have to go that route, which "dolls" are the best ones to take?

I don't know -- ask your doctor -- but I can certainly pass on what a dear friend, writer/DJ Anita Sarko, told me:

"Ambien, Lunesta, and that class of drugs is useless.

"They just react like bad pot on me -- they give me headaches and make me slightly groggy, but that's all.

"What works best for me is Klonopin, Valium, Halcion, and Xanax."

And for a lot of people!

In fact, when I was depressed once, a doctor prescribed me Klonopin, and suddenly, not only wasn't I depressed, I wasn't even conscious!

By the way, this is the only blog I've ever written where you're perfectly allowed to say "Zzzz."

I swear by melatonin. Works every time and I wake up refreshed and not groggy at all.

I'm very surprised you didn't mention the antihistamine Benadryl. Benadryl aka diphenhydramine HCL is the same single ingredient in ALL over-the-counter PM medication. i.e. Advil PM, Tylenol PM, Aleve PM, etc.

It works great and if you buy most any generic brand you can get it for a steal. I bought 100 for a buck at a schlock store on Coney Island Avenue in Brooklyn.

A nice side effect when I take it to sleep is that it clears up my post nasal drip. A word of caution, some people may get an antihistamine hangover from it.

I only didn't mention it because I used to take it for allergies and it never made me drowsy. Thanks for the info.

My choices are #1 Ambien, #2 Ambien, and #3 Ambien. it is a miracle drug for me. half the recommended dose and I sleep peacefully for 6 hours. Without it, it is 3 am before I fall asleep. Yes I take "dolls" because the next day I have to get up and "Sparkle Neely Sparkle".

I'm not up on sleeping pills because I don't have any problem falling asleep. But if I wake up at 3 am and make the mistake of thinking about what I have to do the next day, I'm doomed. Next thing I know I'm thinking about bills, failure, futility, death and not able to get back to sleep. I should probably try to get something that would knock me out for 8 hours so thanks for the pill info.
