In response to a lengthy profile in New York, the performer (formerly half of Kiki & Herb who has a new CD and an upcoming memoir) had this to blog:

"For the record, my 'ambition' is not 'to be both sexes at once.'

"I AM both sexes at once.

"I am not a woman, I am not a man, and I am not a 'cross dresser.'

"I'm a transperson."

Roar on.

Aren't people who actually transitioned from one gender to another going to get upset that "trans" is being used for "intersex"?

When can we all just be "queer"?

Being all that at once sounds exhausting. Talk about your versatile!

There's alot of people out there who don't identify with the norms of labels society has for gay, straight, trans.. Or fem/masc.. So who are they?? What are they?? And why is it so dam important for people to be labeled as something such something to fit a four/five letter word.. Are people really that boring?? Worse off.. Why are adults still stuck in the label game?? Absolutely-Un-Fabulous... Be yourself needs to be clearly re-vamped/re-vived!!

I haven't read the article yet, but it sounds like the author is strangely clueless and insensitive about transgendered people. Like he used a supposedly favorable profile to not so subtly put someone down.

in many ways, the article was very beautiful, yet, i perfectly understand several things that j"v"b addressed -- particularly if certain pieces were embellishment as well as the listing of -- i live over here, no right there, yes, right here -- come one come all -- honestly, do you EVER see that noted? some people miss the point of diversity -- let alone with glbt people -- and if you're not part of OUR tribe (and within our frame of reference) than it may not psychically register what we're inviting to your doorstep -- especially if we're misrepresenting, misunderstanding, as well as misappropriating your work or message.

whatever's presented is usually a good indicator of what a person (the presenter) wants me to think.that's how i ride.

You're probably right, but they should still try to get "the gender stuff" right. The subhead of the article said something about Justin "trying to be a woman." It didn't sound correct.

Anyone think there wouldn't have been an article at all without all the gender stuff?
