We've all uttered that saying on occasion, but I've been saying it a lot more lately because of one song that's become as pervasive as a case of crabs, and I don't know what to do about it.

For months now, I hear it when I wake, it blares when I lie down, and it even pierces my noggin in my sleep.

It screams out of phones, radios, TVs, computers, gadgets, and even, apparently, private parts.

It's not even a bad song, mind you -- it's just as overexposed as a Kardashian sister standing on a subway grating!

And it is ...

"Firework" by Katy Perry!

It keeps blowing up in my face!

Though I don't hate it, Laura's Theme, the Dr. Zhivago song, pops into my head when I'm swimming. Never fails, and the tempo depends on how fast I'm going. The opening instrumental from Get Smart series often pops into my head at all kinds of times. It's like a theme song for my life.

I absolutely love you MM but now that song -- we shall not speak its name - is back in heavy rotation in my head! Can't songs like that be programmed to self-destruct at a certain point? I think John Locke really meant this with the whole "social contract" thing.

I must confess that when I like the song and the person can actually sing -- no, not auto-tune but actually sing -- it's not so bad. Yes I mean the talented Lady Gaga.

I kinda like Ke$ha a little bit for her comment. At least she's honest.

Couldn't agree more!! And I think the most disturbing thing is that Russell Brand is likely the "firework" she's shrieking about....makes one want to take a long, hot shower.
