La Toya Remembers Michael's "Tortured Soul"

Categories: La Toya Jackson

She posed for Playboy, warded off an abusive husband, and, according to Wikipedia, "She scored her biggest Billboard Hot 100 hit with 'Heart Don't Lie,' which peaked at number 56."

And now La Toya Jackson is sweeping into town for a gala party on the 20th, promoting her new book about a whole other Jackson.

It's officially described thusly:

"In this heartfelt memoir, La Toya pays tribute to Michael's tortured soul -- revealing the intimate moments she shared with the deeply troubled pop legend.

"The first sibling to arrive at the hospital after Michael was rushed there, and the informant on his death certificate, La Toya noticed suspicious details and demanded a second autopsy.

"She unveils shocking behind-the-scenes dealings that she believes led to her brother's death."

She also reveals the dysfunctions of her wacky family and of her doomed marriage, with the ultimate observation, "Like Michael, La Toya experienced an upbringing that made her vulnerable to exploitation."

And if you want more of it, Jermaine has a book coming out in October!

Starting Over, which is set for release on the anniversary week of his death, analyzes the star’s sudden death on June 25, 2009.     http://bit.ly/jFv2gx

Interesting, it'll be interesting hearing he perspective on her brother's death and most importantly i'd love to hear about her horrible marriage.

I still remember your column which featured a picture of LaToya, with a boa constrictor draped over her, talking to the then-Mrs. Donald Trump: "LaToya with her snake, Marla without hers".

Well, it's 85% La Toya but the cover is 50% Michael. The publisher isn't stupid. They know  what'll sell.

Thank you for writing about the book's release but I wish you would've given more attention to the description that doesn't involve Michael. She and her manager have said that the book is the story of her life since her last book came out in 1991. He personally told me that the book is 85% La Toya and 15% about her relationship with and the death of Michael.

The publisher's got an embargo on the book which is why you were denied access unfortunately.

I really hope you take the time to actually read the book, because it's chock full of both heartbreaking and heartwarming stories. She's been to hell and back and is finally rising above and trying to start over. I think the press, who've demonized her thanks to her scumbag of an ex-husband/manager, deserve to give her that chance.

YouTube "La Toya on Jensen" and listen to her tale of escaping from her abusive marriage. It's worth a watch - and a good preview of what's in the book.

Michael Musto the original Jackson groupie,

Your cut-and-paste "journalism" is so pathetic even to yourself that you referenced Wikipedia. And of course you did not post the entirety of the book's synopsis, even though it is available, because that would actually be something professional journalists do. I have pre-ordered the book and cannot wait to read it as I am finishing Ann Coulter's Demonic: How the Liberal Mob is Endangering America. I'm surprised you haven't been mentioned, but then again, you wield no substantial influence.

Who said everyone has to paste an entire book synopsis???? He put the top parts of it and summed the rest of it. Keep your dumb rules to yourself and go back to your Ann Coulter book.

Cut and paste journalism? 90% of what I write is my only personal point of view.

But in this case, I cited something from Wikipedia and took some of the official book description from Amazon, since I tried the publisher, but they wouldn't release anything to me from the book itself.

I tried and they wouldn't provide anything!

I also could have put in a lot of my own personal point of view about La Toya but I've done that for years and for once thought I'd simply present something without it.

As for "no substantial influence," that's true. If you got upset by me, it's certainly not susbstantial at all.

The only time you upset me was when I found out you weren't Dame Edna:(

And the only time you upset people was when we found out you love Ann Coulter and La Toya Jackson.

I shouldn't say "without it." Just with a minimum of it. Some of my feeling couldn't help seeping through.

Poor latenite.  You're such a freak.  With all the blacks who make great music, why do you obsess on the Jacksons?  Oh!  I know.  You have taste for shit.  P.S. Michael was the only talented one of them.  The rest fed off of him like vampires.

Well, at least she doesn't have to sing Michael's old hits in Bulgaria anymore.

Little did Michael know the exploitation would be from his own siblings.
