So How Did The Beaver Do?

• I don't know if the premise had to make the movie a flop from the get go as someone posted, but the inapt tone sure did. Imagine "In the Country of the Blind" or "Metamorphosis" or "The Nose" made as straight, dramatic Hallmark TV specials and you get the idea. Box office had nothing to do with Mel, imo.

• Please, Jodie Foster ran to his side and was also defending Lars von Trier. Is she out of the closet YET?

• I guess there aren't enough neo-Nazis and KKKers to help them make back their outlay. Who'd a thunk it?

• Even without Gibson, this was a fucked premise for a film.  I can't imagine any actor playing such a wacked-out role with conviction.  Jodie must still have some Hollywood clout, if she's able to get an idiotic, $20 million + project like this green-lighted---though this major flopperoo sure isn't going to help her get any future big-budget films okayed.

• This movie would've tanked with Bradley Cooper in the lead. Who thought a movie about a beaver puppet on someone's hand was a workable movie?? That's coke thinking at its best. 

• Glad this movie flopped.  Looks like a stinker.  Like Mel!  Turd.  Take your money and run, Mel.  Nobody wants to see your leathery old face, your not funny or cute, so get a clue and become a recluse or something.  Maybe move to the Middle East.  

• Jodie Foster's a coward and not a talent anymore. 

• Poor Jodie Foster and all the other actors, producers, professionals behind the film.

• I meant "movie".

• Even without his rants, I doubt that a move with him talking through a beaver because he's disturbed would have them lining up at the cineplex.

• I doubt it will fare better here UP NORTH! 

• I think some people go crazy when they become stars - they don't have to live in everyday reality and they start to believe they really are god-like. They can't see that they've become disgusting and ridiculous. It's sad because he is a great actor, even if not a great person. Jodie Foster isn't a good actor, but I feel bad for her too because she can't catch a break with the films she tries to make.

• That Beaver had a floppy tail.

• Someone on Facebook: "It took a beating!"

• Michael, we know you don't like "the Beaver".  

• Maybe they should change the name to "The Passion of the Beaver."  Couldn't hurt.
