Tippi Hedren Honors Michael Jackson

Tippi Hedren is the Hitchcock star of The Birds and Marnie (in which she was a klepto who was afraid of the color red), and she also worked with Chaplin, albeit in the comedy misfire A Countess From Hong Kong.

She's further known as the mom to Oscar-nominated Melanie Griffith, and I believe she was close with some members of Michael Jackson's animal kingdom.

Well, apparently Tippi's not really afraid of the color red because she's lovin' the "Thriller" jacket!

I just got this release:

"Legendary actress and supporter of The Shambala Preserve Tippi Hedren strikes a pose at the Juliens Auctions Music Icons Preview Party on Wednesday, June 22.

"The popular entertainment and celebrity auction house will auction several Michael Jackson personal items this weekend including the Michael Jackson video worn 'Thriller' jacket.

"A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the famous jacket will benefit The Shambala Preserve which is the current home of Jackson's two Bengal tiger 'Thriller' and 'Sabu.'

"The two tigers have been living at The Shambala Preserve since 2006 when Jackson left Neverland Ranch. The 'Thriller' jacket was designed by Deborah Landis."

Anybody want to bid on something that touched Michael Jackson?

She is marvelous. Has the same certain something that Janet Leigh and Grace Kelly had -- icy, elegant, intelligent sex appeal. And a sexy voice. She was spectacular in The Birds driving up to Bodega Bay in her little Aston Martin convertible with those two lovebirds. I don't think Marnie was one of his better efforts. I heard it was originally written for Grace Kelly's return to the screen. But Sean Connery had the same icy, elegant sex appeal and I thought he and Tippi had good chemistry.

Say what you will about MJ, but I think this jacket will be, if not already, as popular as the Dorothy's ruby red slippers and will continue to fetch a high dollar as the years and jacket pass from owner to owner. It is an iconic piece of pop culture.
