I Dream of Jeannie was the classic, navel-baring 1960s show about a 2,000-year-old lady who lives in a bottle, which makes her look much younger.

There's long been talk of a movie version, seeing as it's one of the few sitcoms (along with My Mother the Car) that hasn't been filmed yet.

Well, according to The Daily, the latest name to be bandied about as a possible Jeannie is ...

Katherine Heigl.

That sounds sort of maybe OK-ish.

Then again the script has been through multiple rewrites and at one point they even were mentioning Lindsay Lohan as a possible star.

This thing is clearly going to need a whole lotta nose twitching to get off the ground.

Why not Amy Adams? She can look very wholesome and more "Jeannieish" than Heigl. She can be quite funny; remember the Wedding Crashers?

They need a new face, someone who will become a star from this movie.Its hard to picture it any other way. It would kind of seem ridiculous.

Absolutely NOT. I love love love Ann Sothern. Remember--we never saw her on the show, just heard that wonderful voice. No, I'm thinking Snooki to actually play the car--we could dub in someone else's voice.

Well, Bewitched was done as some weird high-concept version which didn't trust the material. Hopefully this time they'll just do it straight. Or not do it at all.
