Jane Fonda Bumped From QVC Over Vietnam

That's what she says. Of course, they're simply saying schedule changes happen all the time.

Oh, please. Can you believe that a channel known for selling aggressively tacky items (which I love, mind you) can be so wussy about what else they'll sell?

That people can still be agitated over 40-year-old happenings?

That anyone might still think the war in Vietnam was a good idea?

And that Jane hasn't apologized enough for her two-minute lapse of sanity when she smilingly climbed aboard an anti-aircraft gun for a photo op?

Give her a break.

This war -- between an Oscar winner and some cowards hiding behind appliqued blouses -- is even lamer than Vietnam.

Jane was cancelled by QVC because of her political views. This is the email I received when I asked about Fonda:

Thank you for emailing QVC. Due to a scheduling change, Jane Fonda did notappear in the 10am show Saturday as previously scheduled. QVC's ProgramGuide was updated on Friday, June 15th. Jane Fonda didn't appear because ofher past or current political views or reaction from the online community.

This comes as no surprise. Leftists will continue to love Jane because she gives a token face to popular left wing opinion; conservatives will hate her because she espouses ‘left wing rhetoric’; Jane herself will use the gimmick occasion to promote her book that “can help make life better, easier and more fulfilling.”

In sum: haters gonna hate, lovers gonna love, and an old controversy never truly dies.

I never cared much for Fonda as an actress...or as Fitness and/or Self-Help Guru...but as a young soldier back in '68-'69 I really appreciated the work that she did on the FTA Tour and the witness that she bore against the goddamned War...she supported "the troops" a hell of a lot more than did the Chickenhawks did...

It not so much the shame of being bumped, but being bumped...by QVC! QVC must not approve her Oscar winning performance as a prostitute in "Klute," but yet QVC hosts feign affection for the lonely and poor to shill their products! Jane, try HSN!
