• Actually I believe it's Max Baer, JR.  If I recall, Max Baer, his father was a boxer (fighter, not dog).

• Greatest line in TV history, on Gloria Swanson's Very Special <i>Hillbillies</i> ep: "Bugtussle is the nicest thing that ever happened to me!"

• Irene Ryan who played Grannie had a few great numbers including that one about "It's Time to Start Living" in Pippin.  She came offstage and, uh, stopped living.

• It seems like there were some dark secrets in Bugtussle.

• thought it was David Wayne at first, then I saw Irene Ryan and immediately recognized it was Jethrine Bodine. looks like an Elly May drag queen

• Would it be out of line for me to suggest that maybe incest was involved somehow?  I mean, you know how those "mountaineers" are.

• I looked it up and it wasn't clarified much, but Pearl Bodine was Jed's cousin. And Jed was also related somehow to Kate Bradley, the proprietor of the Shady Rest on Petticoat  Junction who was also played by Bea Benederet.

• I was too busy working nights at the theater to ever see it, and all I can say about Rex Reed is that having had dinner with him and friends one evening, he never shuts up.

• now i am confused at to how pearl was related to the granny and jed.... i know that she later ran the hotel in petticoat junction...the shady rest.

• Ron, didn't you ever watch the Beverly Hillbillies?  Jethro was adorable on that show!  He and Rex Reed (he was on talk shows) were 2 of my fave fantasies when I was about 12 years old.

• Actually, Dick Shawn was sexy!  See him the 1968 movie The Producers.  Sexy gyrating, sexy body.  Funny too.  Very doable!
