Anderson Cooper Talks About His Dead Brother, But Not You Know What

• I totally agree with you ET.  It is nobody's business what Anderson Cooper does in the privacy of his own bed.  I do understand he has a hot boy friend that his mother wants him to marry.  I second that.  Anderson is 'girly' and his boyfriend is a hot stud.   His mother, Gloria Vanderbilt is SO right.  He should marry his boyfriend.  Gables

• Sam Champion was open to Good Morning America viewers about his dad's death and his own skin cancer. His colleague Robin Roberts is open about her breast cancer struggle. Neither of them are open about being gay. Why is Anderson the only one about whom this stuff is ever made an issue?

I worked with gay people for 5 years as part of the AIDS and HIV prevention project back in 1987, so I do care about them as people BUT have always said they don't need to yell out loud who they are or what they do... that is their business and should be kept behind doors.

• I can't tell if Anderson Cooper is gay or not. He could be. I think he is supportive of gay people because his brother committed suicide for being gay. Not to say that AC shouldn't support gay people even if a family member is not gay. The mother probably did not want the brother to be gay. I could be wrong but it is something to think about. It could also be why he does alot of work to stop gay bashing, the hate and bullying. He probably want to show that it is good to accept people without any regard to their sexual orientation.

• According to Shariah  Law the penalty for homosexuality is death, but unlike other death sentences the law requires that the offenders be driven to a high point and pushed over and that the sticks or instruments used for mustering the offenders be discarded afterwards as they are contaminated by touching the condemned and you are not supposed to touch or have physical contact with people engaged in acts that violate the natural laws of the created universe.

• If Fox lets AC come out of the closet, then News Corp stock must really be in trouble. Anderson Cooper gets engaged during Fall sweeps and then married during Spring sweeps, they'll have to adopt babies the following season then the christening with God-mothers Gaga and Griffin and my GAWD! • I was glad that Cooper & his mother did mention his father Wyatt Cooper and had some photos of him.  Vanderbilt read from Wyatt Cooper's only book, Families: A Memoir and a Celebration, a loving and lovely piece of prose.  I met him once when Marguerite Young invited him to her writing class at the New School, and he made quite an impression.  Anyone who could make an impression when Marguerite Young was in the room had to be quite memorable.

• What a lucky guy. Cooper is gorgeous and I love how he handles Griffin. He is very sexy good for him and his boyfriend is the luckiest guy in the World. I have had a crush on him for years. I always see him around Chelsea and once coming from the guy boy was that hard to watch. He is handsome.

I hope Anderson talks about his father, Wyatt Cooper, who began as an actor and became a fine writer. I remember to this day an Esquire piece Wyatt Cooper did long ago about one of Dorothy Parker's last party nights, which he helped bring about  He died relatively young, I think. The Vanderbilt/Coopers are a fascinating family, much more interesting than just Coop's sexuality.

• It's not like the world doesn't know already.  Anyway, quick, answer this:  Who is Brian Williams sleeping with right now?  Who is Katie Couric sleeping with?  You're thinking "I don't really care," aren't you.  Some celebrities like Anderson get this kind of press heat and I'm sure he's expected it and I respect his desire to handle it in his own way.  I remember him being beaten in Egypt a few months back.  If he were known as Gay Anderson Cooper of CNN and kidnapped on assignment, who knows what those barbarians would do to him..

• Anderson is someone alot of nyers run into in the street, myself see him around the time warner building with his bfrnd and my friend always sees him around chelsea.. He does not look approachable so i have never stopped to say hi to him.

They will talk in detail about unhappy traumas they had in their family like parental divorce, but will lie, be coy or refuse to talk about happy things related to their romantic life like new love, engagement or a scheduled marriage. Famous people selectively pick what they want to go public with when all the time, and they are guarded about some parts of their life while open about others.

• The most fascinating story I have ever read was the story of little Gloria Vanderbilt as a child. As an adult beautiful sleeping with Hollywood's elite according to her. Debitante of the year and then the odd choices in men. Today for her age and it is hard to believe she looks fabulous. Carter jumped out a window in front of his mother. Isn't that the tragedy these two share? So..why is everyone waiting for the words to come out of anderson Cooper's mouth.? Like when you wait for an apology..Say it-Say it-. We know he is gay we have seen pictures of his partner we have seen where they live where they vacation. Has it become some new thing in Hollywood to have to have the  person" say it "

• Many straight celebrities are guarded with the media about their dating lives or lie to the press about them. Celebrities are stuck with their personal lives being reported on, but they don't have to hand out the information to the press in interviews and it's normal for them to selectively pick some things to open up about and not others.

• With public figures? You mean you've never been interested in celebrities' personal lives? And they've never talked about it, showed up with their partners at events, and been covered doing so? Please!!

• Michael: At some point (maybe sooner, maybe later), Anderson will come out in a blaze of anti-climactic glory on his new show. The cameras will tag along as he and his boyfriend bike down to the marriage bureau, have a fabulous reception thrown by Gloria Vanderbilt and Sarah Jessica Parker, and honeymoon with the show's staff (all expenses paid, a la Oprah) in some exotic location like Fiji.  It will be a ratings bonanza for an entire week!
