Malibu Beach, 1965. Identify The Stars

Categories: Celebs

I see at least three Oscar winners in these silent but riveting home movies taken by Roddy McDowall in Malibu in the kicky '60s.

There's Jane Fonda, Ruth Gordon, and Julie Andrews, and of course, Tammy Grimes and ...

No, I'll let you guess. It's a fun game. And some of them look very hot, not to mention tres gay.

Looks like a nice, casual day away from the bigger cameras -- and not a Snooki in sight.

I loved this. Unbelievable footage. Such crowded quarters but when you think of the films that were out at the time or about to me made by these guys! Thank you Roddie (miss him) for filming this and Michael for posting.

in another of these films, near the beginning, there's a shot of sal mineo with a blond that he was obviously doing. this blond's name eludes me & it's driving me nuts. i remember him from 60s TV....like maybe someone's pal on "my three sons." anyway, if anyone knows, i'd love you to share his name!

Wasn't McDowell supposed to be hung like a draft horse, too?

In 1964, I was company manager of BABY WANT A KISS, an Actors Studio Theatre production with Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward. In my theatre memoir COLLISION when reality and illusion collide, I write about being in Paul's dressing every night when he was clad only in his jockey's while applying leg makeup for a scene in the play where he pulled up his pant leg.

I thought that was but a memory. Little did I know that in 2011, I would again have the pleasure of seeing Paul's bare legs - WOW! Thanks Michael.

Yeah, Carl, I agree with you. Jane is hot, but Julie Andrews is hotter. Ed Wood love to get down on his knees and munch on her Limey box.  I agree with you on the men...limp wrist pansies, all. As to the real men, I'd add Jack Ford, Ernie Borgnine, Alfonso Bedoya, and for good measure, Charles Lane

And another thing.....if Jane's one regret is that she never got to fuck Che Guevara, I'll don a fucking Che mask and she can fuck me anytime.  And I mean today! Love to bu-cock-ee on her face. Should have done it in '65...Fuck me....Yeah, BABY, cum and get it.

James Fox..what a faggot...man up, you fruit! If you go on YouTube and see some other Roddy McDowell home movies, most of the cats act and look like a bunch of mincing queens, even the big names, with their Stag Shop ( remember? - on 8th St), mankini's. Reminds me of Fire Island 1962.   The chicks look like fag hags....where the fuck are the real men, like The Duke, Bob Mitchum, Bill Holden? Fucking Cukor in a suit? Why doesn't the schmuck show off his sagging package to all those little twinks?  What a bunch of fairies....

The long ago time before kid's car seats - Julie Andrews just puts her toddler in the back seat and drives away.

Judy Garland, Bacall, Gladys Cooper [!], Polly Bergen, Suzanne Pleshette, Jennifer Jones, David O. Selznick, and others.  I wish I had the cigarette concession. . . .

Is that Paula Prentiss at 0:51? Never mind - now I think it's Sally Kellerman.

When stars were were still Stars. (Sigh.)

Julie Andrews' toddler must be Emma Walton, her daughter with stage/screen designer Tony Walton.

She's now Emma Walton Hamilton and has collaborated with her mother on children's books and other projects.

Larry Kert is the dark haired one in the beginning with the cigarette. Another gay.

The blonde is James  Fox.

Jane Jane Jaaaaaane!!!  So sexy.  I wonder if this get-together is in Patricia Bosworth's long-aborning bio of her which I just picked up and can't wait to start reading.

That blonde hunk is Garson Kanin?? I don't think so. Has to be a movie star.

Anyway, Julie Andrews looks like a very nice mother--for the cameras anyway.

Garson Kanin, husban of Ruth Gordon and noted playwright.

Even without sounds, Ruth Gordon steals the show!

Who is the incredibly queeny blonde guy talking to Jane Fonda at the beginning?

Ron Bruguiere

Garson is in the red jacket.  That's Larry Kert at the very beginning.

Troofire

No, Garson is the bald one.  The blond is probably Roddy's bf.

No, it's not Don Grady. He looks a lot like Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys, but isn't him, obviously.  Mystery hunk.

Matthew Rettenmund

It looks something like Don, but I don't think it's him...the hair is parted on the wrong side and the face is a bit different. Don would've been 21 then. But I definitely don't see this as looking like Bobby Sherman, who people are saying it is and who definitely associated with Mineo around that time. Perhaps an unknown...?

Looks more like Tab Hunter
