The Screen's Hottest Hottie In Every Way

Michael Fassbender has made searing impressions in Hunger, Inglourious Basterds, and Jane Eyre, and he's also managed to heat up everything from an X-Men movie to Centurion and beyond.

Plus he's coming up in David Cronenberg's A Dangerous Method, in which Fassbender is the founder of analytical psychology, Carl Jung.

The man is an agile actor with range and daring -- and he's not bad-looking, either.

(Having met him last year, I can also assure you he's charming enough to melt your eyeglasses.)

But all eyeballs will be looking -- no, staring -- when Steve McQueen's Shame plays the New York Film Festival next month and then opens in theaters.

In that film -- for which he just won Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival -- Fassbender plays a guy with a pornography compulsion, and I hear there's nudity and goings-on like you haven't seen since the 1970s.

We're talking pudenda-filled sex-club-style action that's reminiscent of places Bette Midler used to play.

God, I simply adore the cinema!

I first saw him in "Inglorious Basterds" and couldn't take my eyes off him ; akin to the the reaction I had seeing Colin Firth in the first "Bridget Jones" movie. Yes, he's very handsome but he can also act. I also liked his Mr. Rochester, probably the best thing about the latest "Jane Eyre" film.

I have been saying this since Inglorious Basterds (I did know of him from Hunger but a scruffy, malnourished IRA terrorist is not really appealing).  He made X-Men: First Class captivating with him switching languages (and frankly, brogues) while wearing some fine tailored turtlenecks and suits.  I wish that wetsuit shot was a little longer.   So nice seeing him go from supporting roles as Americans in movies/mini-series to get noticed to hitting the A-List.

He's great. And he's gorgeous. And he has star quality (least as far as I am concerned). You can keep Clooney.

Ah, to relive the Continental Baths' heyday with Bette performing - songs! dirty minds.

I loved his subtle yet seething approach in Jane Eyre and can't wait for Shame and Dangerous Game. Yum.
