The title role!

In her new book, I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down, Hudson reveals that she was offered the plum part of the troubled yet developing schoolgirl (which ultimately went to Gabourey Sidibe, who got an Oscar nomination for it and lots of other acclaim).

Hudson had triumphed in Dreamgirls, then lost the weight she'd gained, eagerly presenting a lither JHud to the world.

She knew she'd have to gain it all back to play Precious, and the thought of that made her as queasy as if she'd tasted rotten clam dip.

"I had done that with Effie," writes JHud, "and as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight."

Instead, she said yes to the slim-waisted Sex and the City movie.

Smart?

Smart. Plus she can sing even without the weight, so she has options. Have you seen her man, too? Now that is some hotness right there!

But isn't she doing an Aretha Franklin biopic?

Jennifer is a beautiful woman, thick or thin.

Yes smart, otherwise she'd be stuck with "fat girl" typecasting (Gabourey Sidibe "The Big C")...I'm sure it was a hard decision given the fickleness of Hollywood...regrets, umm, probably...but real-life served her up a "Precious" moment as well.

I think she would have been about 28 but Gabeh Sidibe would have been 26 anyway.

Is she really young enough to have played a teen?? I'm confused.

Aretha didn't start out being heavy...She's downright skinny in a couple of old videos on Youtube.
