Over at the dishy site DataLounge, they've had a lot to say ever since Madonna was announced as halftime entertainment at the February 5 Super Bowl, making it a must-watch for people of all species and sexualities.

Among the more memorable comments:

"Diana Ross appeared at her Super Bowl halftime show by arriving in a helicopter. Top that, Madge!"

"A raisin trying to pretend she's still a grape."

"Please don't flash a nip. Please don't flash a nip. Please don't flash a nip ..."

"Love her!"

"She's so NOW! So hip and edgy!"

"Instead of entering through a tunnel, the game will start with all the players exiting her vagina."

"If she can repeat something like her 2005 European VMAs performance, she'll go down in Super Bowl history. The whole world was talking after that."

"Who?"

if Britney or Gaga can deliver a similar performance, then the halftime act won't be worth watching ...

Madge you gotta BUMP IT UP, you're the BEST among all of them ...

And a big WELCOME BACK, Michael.  We missed you, and were all perfect little angels while you were away.  Are you suntanned, rested and ready to tackle Chanukwanzmas with vigor?

To simply take swipes at Madonna because--horrors!--she is aging, is so cheap.  Guess what, everybody?  So are we all (with a little bit of luck).  For fifty something, she's held it together amazingly well (and surely she's had the help of more than a little cosmetic, er, "intervention").  She still sells out the biggest, top stadiums all around the world and has been able to maintain a feverish fan-base by A)  Working her ass off and B)  Changing with the times to remain relevant.  The fact that she's been tapped to be the star attraction of the most-watched entertainment event of the year....well, she didn't have it handed to her.  She's earned it.  She's built a catalogue of songs that will forever be known as "Madonna songs" and for 30 years now, she remains the queen of the hill.  Her obvious successor, Lady Gaga, has the good sense and the grace to acknowledge how Madonna paved the way for all the others who've followed (and will continue to follow her).  I'm not even a raving fan of hers, but I think that longevity is something to be admired.  And there's no other way to achieve longevity without growing old.  So the cheap "granny" slaps are really puerile.  Give the lady some respect...I think she deserves it.

I feel a very strange love for Guy Ritchie's "Swept Away". It's awful, but there's something about it. And there's a great fantasy mambo sequence that's worth the price of admission.

No, because the Who were basically well liked as well as being real musicians.

Madonna is a legend and her performance will elevate a mere sports game to the realm of history making art!!!

I love the pic from Swept Away.  Guy Ritchie must have had an unconscious (or conscious) hatred of Madonna when he made that movie because she looked terrible in it.  She looked very  hard and was filmed in a very unflattering way.
