The Bodyguard, The Musical! It's Coming!

It's opening this fall in London, and you can bet it will head to NYC stages, too -- especially since it's a veritable jukebox show into which they've crammed tons of Whitney Houston's hits, fewer than half of which were actually used in The Boydguard movie.

Here are the songs included in the show for maximum box-office appeal:

"Queen of the Night"

"So Emotional"

"One Moment in Time"

"Saving All My Love"

"I'm Your Baby Tonight"

"Run to You"

"I Have Nothing"

"How Will I Know?"

"I Wanna Dance With Somebody"

"I Will Always Love You"

And that's all in Act One, ba dum pum.

Anyway, this thing was obviously put in gear before Whitney's death, so it's only moderately expoitative, but still, some of you might want to run to ... something else?

Nah. Tony winner Heather Headley (Aida) stars, and that lady can sing!

Think of it as a tribute concert with some old dialogue thrown in.

Am busting for the news to get out,  as I happen to know who has been cast in the title role....All I can say is he will be perfect, and he just happens to be my stepson!!!!!

I hate to be a spoil sport, but doesn't anyone remember that "The Bodyguard" is a rotten movie?  And not in the "so bad it's good" way.

People are being really creepy about Houston's death. Her albums are all in the top 50 best selling CD/music/whatever because of her untimely death, Houston has not sold these many CDs in over a decade.I think she would have appreciated the support MORE while she was still around, you know?

YEah but as he said, this musical was in the works long before she died.

That is true but I still think there is morbid interest in this project because the film starred Whitney Houston.

Michael I figure you already know this but the film was orginally much earlier slated to star Diana Ross & also 'Fatal Attraction'.

LOL. Yeah it's not enough to have Ghost, Once, Newsies, Leap of Faith.....

they had a Michael Jackson show in London for awhile too...that never came over here...not sure if that was started before he died or not.....this sounds  promising though and should be successful.....I hope it comes to Broadway! We really need a another musical based on a movie........

Well, I think Heather was launched in music by Clive Davis so this all makes sense. I bet it's a big hit--bigger than Ghost the Musical.

I thought Heather Headley left theater because she always wanted to be a recording star?
