Faye Dunaway Updates Her Fans On Master Class

At least I think it's Faye Dunaway.

On Twitter, @RealFayeDunaway has been saying that her long-awaited film version of Master Class is in post production.

Master Class is the Terrence McNally play about opera diva Maria Callas instructing some young hopefuls with brash charm and putdowns.

Faye has co-adapted the screenplay, directed the movie, and stars as Callas.

Tweeted RealFaye about a week ago:

"Just edited scene with Liam Dunaway O'Neill and Danielle de Niese. They are electric."

(Liam is Faye's son with photographer Terry O'Neill.)

More recently, she tweeted: "We will be entered in most film festivals. Unfortunately not Cannes this year."

But she's going there anyway. Loves the movies. Try and stop her.

And finally:

"Master Class is my dream. I work on it every day. I am a perfectionist. It shall be worth the wait."

Oh, good. Because the wait has been so long that I remember asking Faye over a decade ago what was going on with it.

Much later, as you'll recall, she finally started the movie, but stopped halfway through, arguing that this is how movies get done.

Now that she's finished, I'm thrilled and can't wait to see this epic in whatever festivals it will end up at.

But if that's really her on Twitter, shouldn't she have way more followers?

It may be hard to believe, since Miss Dunaway is truly a private person, but it is in fact her on Twitter. She adores Callas, along with so many other artists. I have assisted her with MC and other personal projects for nearly three years now. Yes, there have been many ups and downs - such is life!

I wondered about the Oscar comment. Would she really say that, especially with a movie coming out?

But maybe I'm just being too cynical. If it's her, I'm, thrilled.

I'm starting to think this isn't the real Faye at all. According to imdb, the movie is indeed in post-production, though.

Faye's "Master Class" film reminds me of Truman Capote's "Answered Prayers," which he supposedly finished but all that he produced were a couple of trashy magazine articles that lost him all his friends.

His lover Jack Dunphy said in a  documentary that the book as such never existed.

Agree re her embracing Mommie Dearest! She eneds to make peace with it! It's brought people joy!

And I'm dying to know what she means by the Oscar remark too!

Reading  through her tweets (and I'm totally convinced that it IS her), there was one in particular that I found enigmatically "FAYE"-ish:  "Regrettably I shall not be attending the #Oscars this year or any other year until the academy rights it's wrong. I apologize to all my fans".  Anybody know what's got her all out of joint with the AMPAS?  (and the operative word in her tweet, of course, is "shall," which she grandly chooses over "will"!).

And, really...isn't it time that she just faces fact that "Mommie Dearest" is her defining film and that she should embrace it?  She always seems so angry and touchy about the subject.  She should take a lesson from Patty Duke:  After years of bitterly renouncing "Valley of the Dolls," Patty finally did a late-life turnaround and attends the campy gay screenings and all.  And SHE seems happy now, doesn't she?  Can you imagine if Faye were to finally embrace "Mommie" and go on a nationwide screening tour with it?  THAT would certainly give her career a little "oomph"!  Not to mention sending several thousand queens "of a certain age" into paroxysms of absolute, utter rapture.

I really do hope, for her sake, that the film sees the light of day as it's clearly been her life's dream.  Maybe I'm cynical...but am I the only one who thinks that this has all the earmarks of something that doesn't really exist...and that talking about it will somehow make it real, or get her the backing to actually make/release it?  Wouldn't be the first time.  Right now, at 71, she is 17 years older than Maria was when she died....and 23 years older than when Callas taught the master classes (I know, I know..."that's why they call it acting," etc.).  I hope that she can somehow make this film happen...and soon!

Give it to me Faye!  I saw her on tour in Sacramento in Master Class and she was stunning!!  I recently saw Tyne Daly (who I adore) but all it did was make me remember and long for the intensity and bat s**t crazy balls acting of lady Faye!!  Bring it!

I'm willing to believe it's Miss D., but I bet she's got somebody (can she still afford a competent assistant?) vetting them for her, as I think she'd find it challenging to tamp down the crazy as much she seems to be...

I belive it is Faye I noticed when I jioned twitter that she on there, but not tweeting. But now she is & I for one am thrilled. Her voice is pretty distinct. Plus someone else would have had to create an account for her handsome son.

I really wish this woman would get her due. There are not many actors with the body of work. Some of the films are real classics. Plus even with a small role like 'rules of engagement' she hits it out of the park.

Her son is HOT!!!!

Faye wanted Lady Gaga to play Maria Callas. Not a great idea, methinks.

I clicked on the tweets and there's one where she says she won't go back to the Oscars until they right their wrong. What does she mean???? She won one, didn't she?

If all this Faye talk has left you with a taste to view her in her most memorable performance, the Ovation Channel (783 in Manhattan) is showing "Mommie Dearest" in a non-stop loop until 2AM tonight!

Now she's tweeting that she's training in South Carolina for a few weeks. Please Michael, be our Faye detective and find out what's going on. Is training in SC a new euphemism for getting some work done? Why does Faye on twitter give me such joy!!

For proof it was her she took a pic of her Emmy and it's inscription. Plus Liam Dunaway is on twitter and converses with her.

Why do you think it's not really her?  Seems a pretty elaborate ruse...though hardly one impossible to pull off by a crazed Faye "fan".

Yeah, that Academy remark seemed so familiar to me, somehow..and then I realized that it is TOTALLY reminiscent of Joan Crawford's will, in which she left Tina and Christopher nothing with the enigmatic remark "for reasons which are well-known to them....".   She's channeling Joan again!  Maybe she IS getting ready to embrace "MD"??
