George Clooney On The Gay Rumors: "I Don't Give A Shit!"

Asked about the gay talk, George Clooney told The Advocate:

"I think it's funny, but the last thing you'll ever see me do is jump up and down saying, 'These are lies!'

"That would be unfair and unkind to my good friends in the gay community.

"I'm not going to let anyone make it seem like being gay is a bad thing. My private life is private and I'm very happy in it.

"Who does it hurt if someone thinks I'm gay? I'll be long dead and there will still people people who say I'm gay. I don't give a shit."

Yay!

But a couple of questions:

*Might this be a deflective way to deal with the things -- give an interview to a gay magazine and say all the correct things, while maintaining you're straight?

*Could he be straight?

*And why did the Radar write-up use the word "plagued" (as in he's been "plagued by gay rumors for years")?

That makes it sound like a horror, and even Clooney said it's great, remember?

George Clooney is todays CARY GRANT...look at him gorgeous just like Carey...Carey did play around when he was young but always dated and bedded women too...Geo may be bisexual....whatever he is he's a hottie...i'll take him either way...ummmmmm yumm

I find it perfectly plausible that he's what we want: A str8 metrosexual who is relaxed about his sexuality and happens not to be gay. On the other hand, all the press, this column and all the comments use the word "gay." thus avoiding "bisexual...." When you really, really want to ask a question on this subject, you'd inquire, "Have you ever had an orgasm with a member of the same sex after the age of, say, 14?" Unless you ask that question you haven't really asked anything. Of course that's what most gossips and genuine journalists specialize in: Not really asking anything.

If he's been "plagued" with questions about his sexuality, then Tom Cruise must be the Bubonic Plague of Gay Rumours!

Clooney isn't gay.  The next thing you'll be telling me is Travolta's gay.  Sheesh!

You know, I'll take what he says on face value.

I have straight male friends [and they're not young'un's] who are totally cool with gay folk, meaning we talked LOTS of "boy sex talk" (meaning tell-all's about sexual adventures) no holds barred. Yes, these folk are few and far between but they do exist (I could give you a kinda gross straight boy example about his wedding night, but I won't).

Plus, Clooney isn't a "Page Six" headliner, rather a "oh, look, he's got a girl on his motorcycle" kind of thing...and he has the good sense not to live in Hollywood.

He's probably comfortable in his sexuality which is presumably straight.  Not like there are people claiming to have actual info/pictures, lawsuits and all that like there are about Tom Cruise and John Travolta.  Working in show biz and being sexy, he's had plenty of opportunities, I'm sure!  Ideally, straights would react this way when thought to be gay, like people would react to someone thinking they are left handed when they are actually right handed.

Couldn't he just be straight?  It's possible ,I don't get this obsession with trying to make every hollywood actor gay..wishful thinking maybe?

He hangs out a lot with Rande Gerbe, Cindy Crawford's ex.

They've all seemed like contract beards. How many cocktail waitresses is he going to have to date before he can come out. And didn't he live with mark walnerg for a while?

He will probably come out with a memoir when he's 90. Until then, we can all dream.

Maybe he is, maybe he isn't. If he is, it would be cool if he would come out.But as long as a person isn't a homophobe or anti-gay, I don't have a problem with a person remaining closeted.I think it is better OUTSIDE and to face rejection for being who you are rather than be accepted for you who you ain't, but it is YOUR decision when and how you come out.

I've heard the rumors and the gossip. He's a major movie star and should be used to people flapping their gums about him.people "flap their gums" about you because they care.

Much classier than Tom Cruise suing and bitching about how it could hurt him ("though there's nothing wrong with it" blah blah blah).

Stacy seems like such a contract beard. That's what makes me wonder.

I don't know...if you say, "Is it true that you like cock?" it seems you have asked...something.  A simple yes or no reply will do!

Well, the blog does say maybe he's straight

And it's certainly not EVERY actor that there are rumors about. Just some. And it's perfectly fine to look into those considering the huge amount of closet cases that remain in the business,. Not wishful thinking, just wishing for truth and representation.

"Do you like cock?" which has not been asked of Larry Craig or Sen. Lindsay Graham or Ken Mehlman back in the day is an ambiguous question permitting dissembling and wordplay and rationalization, and is unsuitable for mainstream news outlets. My phrasing is completely unambiguous, and apart from political problems in voicing it presents no naughty word(s).
