Alice from The Brady Bunch (played by Ann B. Davis)

I'm talking about the fictional characters, not the actresses who played them.

And I don't want to hear about Sam the plumber or any of their other alleged love interests of the opposite sex.

I want the truth!

Character(s) are simly that, they have a part to play and to do it well. Regardless what the public at large has to say sbout that characters roll. There have been many cases where a heterosexual female played a Lesbian or Whore, and pulled it off. That's called acting... I heard people say, " Well she played the roll all to well, so therefore she must be one".Well,  kudos to them.

Life is short !!! So why worry about who is what ??? The only people that make negitive coments regarding Gays, have been around for ever and shall remain untill the Earth has been gone for millions of years. That is how stupid it all is. Who cares really ? We are who we are, they are who they are, so lets all get over it. Enjoy life for its really shorter than you think !!! :(

I have no problem with this. You picked women who for the most part didn't seem that romantically attached to the opposite sex. And you said it seemed like they might have been hiding something. Loved it. Next: cartoon characters. Snaggplepuss was definitely a gay.

100% lesbian characters and 50% actual lesbians too.

Plummer?  (And not once but twice!)  Sheeesh!

Well, with the exception of Jo, the common traits of these ladies (i.e.aging, plain-looking gals with a spunky personality) unfortunately lump them into the 'she's MUST be gay since no straight man would want to fuck her' cliche. Sad but consistent stereotype attached to single (white) women.

No Cagney and Lacey?

"Who cares?" Then perhaps you shouldn't be reading a gay gossip site.

And he's asking about the characters, not the actresses.

I'd say definitely Jane Hathaway!!!

I munched on Hazel's carpet many times so she's definitely a diesel. And we cleaned up afterwards with Bounty.

Keith G, I do agree with you in part, what I do not agree with is your use of the "F" word. That was truly not called for. Be it a Christian thing or not? It simply shows good breeding to not use that kind of Street Language . I absoulety no old Prude

To quote Bette Midler, who I think is quoting someone else, "Ugly women have pussies too!"  I wonder if straight men think like a lot of gay men do - "A guy might not be that hot, but if he has a great cock, I'd still like to have a go with him."  Though of course, they'd change the words to mean a woman!

Ugh. Please take your politically correct bullshit elsewhere. I'm a lesbian and grew up lusting after several of these ladies. Some of them are quite attractive even in their dowdy costumes. And for you to call the stereotype "sad" says it all. It's not sad to them or to lesbians.

well! doo-doo brain, jane hathaway wasn´t a lesbian character, neither, considering she deeply desired jethro bodine! maybe, you shouldn´t be gossiping trying hard to read a gay blog.

Politically correct?! Whatever. You like their dowdy look, go for it.  But for others who may not have been attracted to the likes of Miss Jane Hathaway, not many representations of strong, aging, single women existed beyond her. To clarify, I didn't imply that the stereotype was sad. I meant that Jane Hathaway (Josephine, Hazel, etc)  could not have been perceived by the viewers as anything but lesbian because of certain traits, which  is one-dimensional and the "sad" part.

No one is talking about her character(s) she played, but her personal life. And yes her personal life is of importance to the public, because she was a public figure. So therefore her personal life is  or should be open to the fans and the general pulic. I personally could not care one way or another. Who she was in her praivet life  was who she was and we all loved her not only Jane Hathaway, but many other characters in TV and Films. "The Night Of The Grizzly", I'm watching right now on TV.. Not a great movie not even a good one, but I truly enjoy watching Nancy Klup, she worth watching a crappy movie. The lady has been dead since 1991, and still giving pleasure !!!
