Bobby Brown: I Wasn't the One That Got Whitney on Drugs

In an interview airing this Wednesday and Thursday on The Today Show, Bobby Brown--who claims to be seven years sober--says that he saw Whitney two weeks before her death, and she had a glow about her and looked really good.

(You'd think with his experience, he'd know that it was the glow of druggin'.)

But that's not the really surprising bit.

It's this:

"I didn't get high before I knew Whitney," Bobby says.

"I smoked weed," he admits, "I drank the beer, but no, I wasn't the one that got Whitney on drugs at all."

Say whaaa?????

No, wait. Bobby deserves his say. It's his prerogative. Let's not convict him in a court of pop-culture law unless totally proven guilty.

But it would be nice to get a second opinion on all this.

Whitney?

Hello?

Whitney?

That's right. Cissy and Auntie Dionne turned her on to the stuff. PUH-LEEZE.

Does the blame matter anymore? To each his own but they clearly had Something in Common. No one has come out of this story well but some certainly less well than others. Deeply tragic.

I liked his records better than her's.  They were more slammin'.  She was a sweetie (when not strung out) but crappy tunes and I hated the way she oversang everything, feel the same about Mariah, Christian Aquilera.  They make the song all about them and are too dumb to interpret the lyric with subtlety.

In the Oprah interview, Whitney's sister-in-law/Manager said, "I can't say that Bobby was the one that introduced Whitney to drugs."

Didn't you catch the interview?

A friend of mine just reminded me that Bobby was busted for a DUI a month ago. So much for "Seven years sober."

Actually, he "could" be right...some folks can tolerate the same dosage "better" than others...meaning (not condoning) he could stop, when Whitney couldn't...not judging in either case.

"I didn't get high before I knew Whitney," Bobby says."

"High" is in the "eye" of the beholder....case closed.

So his behavioral issues stem from things other than drugs????

This would probably be the only relationship where Bobby would be the relatively clean one.

I have always thought that Whitney was the one who had the problem and was looking for someone to share it with.  Can't say why I thought that but I never believed the "Bobby brought her down" story.

He thought she had a glow? Is he insane? She looked like absolute hell and clearly was sliding.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if Whitney dragged HIM down, but I find it hard to believe he only did weed and beer before that.

Don't forget godmother Re Franklin. BTW, it's Cousin Dionne for Whitney. I keep double-taking on that one meself.

Well, now that you mention it, so do I - re finding Bobby Brown's (few) records being more tolerable than most of poor Whitney's.

The sister in law is the crack whore who sold pictures to the tabloids of Whitney's paraphernalia. That's why Cissy gave her the chill at the funeral. She is not a credible source to anyone except her crack dealer.
