"The Scream" Sells For Almost $120 Million! But Here Are Way Better Paintings

I've long thought of Edvard Munch's harrowing "The Scream" as his Home Alone painting.

But Munch apparently liked it--so much that he made four of them!

And someone else adores it too.

One of the four "Screams" just sold for practically $120 million, which is way more than I've ever spent on art in my life--especially since Woolworth's closed and I don't buy any anymore.

Congrats to the lucky "Scream" owner, but here are some paintings that I feel are even more valuable, for those in the market for extremely good taste, not just overpriced kitsch.

$120 million? And it isn't even on velvet?

My favorite is Whitney 'n Jesus, only he should have thick, dark hair, like the people running around the Middle East. Those big-eyed Keane paintings are kinda cute too. But where's the Christian family values artiste multimillionaire-who-died-of-alcoholism Thomas Kinkade! The King of Kitsch deserves a place in your pantheon too, girl!

Fucking LOVE the "Dogs playing poker" paintings. I would hang any and all of them in my apartment..

many of these artists struggled in their lifetimes, never sold a painting or sculpture while alive only to be "recognized" after their deaths?art speculation is morbid. and tacky.

Natalie Wood liked the Keane paintings with the big, orphan eyes, probably because there was a resemblance.

This is the face you see at a gay bar when the lights are turned on at closing time.

So Jesus has met and forgiven both Elvis AND Whitney? Wow, busy guy.

The Keane big eye paintings bring back childhood days. Probably what started me on my love of yard sale/thrift shop art (and the fact that it's cheap). I actually have a different version of the cat in a ruff hanging in my house - I got it in the gift shop at the Mark Twain house in Hartford CT.

lol.i must say i do like the scream painting, tho. also, i always liked the painting with the dogs gambling (classic). the artwork with the eyes. (double classic).the king of pop painting. royal classic.and of course, whitney. should be on permanent display at the whitney (museum). was the museum named after her? treasure classic. modern classic. future classic.maybe, you can purchase a print (copy) of the whitney original for a cheaper price. it´s growing on me. heard art thieves around the world are trying to get their hands on the original. 200 years from now. an easy trillion.

They were painted by C.M. Coolidge, 16 of them, in the very early 1900's.
