Fact-Checking The Debate: Who's The Bigger Liar?

Categories: Politics

Both candidates got in some, let's say, misrepresentations, but judging by the clarifications made in this diary-like account, Romney seems to be the bigger liar.

If he were Pinocchio, he'd be needing the world's most elaborate rhinoplasty right now.

And pundits are saying that Obama had a lot more fire in him tonight than in the first debate, where he came off like a nice Uncle who wandered in for tea and chit chat.

And ending with the attack on the 47% remark was brilliant, especially since he had the last word.

Oh, good.

My life isn't officially over yet.

Felt the same way Michael. This is the most important election of our lifetime - being the same age we have seen a lot of important elections. However for the LGBT community - this is the first time we have been publicly included in the Democrat Platform and from all the major leaders of the party. Republicans have clearly stated they will reinstate DADT, outlaw Gay marriage, dismantle work place protection, remove all LGBT subject matter from classrooms and support bullying like Michele Bachman. For people with HIV/AIDS - the Republicans will strip all funding for ADAP and AIDS health services - also end Medicare and take away the protection for pre-existing conditions when they give us "Vouchers" to buy health insurance. To be clearer a complete Republican takeover would be a death sentence to our brothers and sisters with HIV. They want to take us back to the bad old days of the 1980's and worse. We cannot allow this to happen. President Obama is our President Lincoln - we must do everything possible to help. I implore all members of the LGBT community to speak with family, old friends and coworkers and let them know how important this election is for our civil-rights. Many of us have migrated to the tolerant Blue Coasts; but we need to reach out to the people we left behind in battleground states especially Ohio. Lets move FORWARD - reelect President Obama 2012.

I also "loved" how Mittens tried to spin the Bain years (the job that dares not speak its name) as positive...oh, and the "blind trust" thing too...which Obama succinctly put to bed with "I don't have as much money as you."

Joy Behar tweeted: "Romney said he sat cross the table from people who lost their jobs. That's because he fired them."

Advocate tweeted: "3 debates, 0 questions on LGBT issues"

The biggest liars are the Republican spin merchants plumpin' the pretzel.

The biggest liar?  Well, considering what quagmires their lies got the U.S. involved in, I'd say, JFK, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, and, of course, the most infamous liar of all, George W. Bush.

Romney (like Ryan) is just a pathological liar.

Keith Olbermann just tweeted this:

"Once again I must point out that my normal role unraveling the GOP is being ably filled this election by Mitt Romney."

Obama's closing:

“I believe Governor Romney is a good man.  Loves his family, cares about his faith. But I also believe that when he said behind closed doors that 47 percent of the country considered themselves victims, who refused personal responsibility, think about who he was talking about. Folks on Social Security who have worked all their lives, veterans who have sacrificed for this country, students who are out there trying to hopefully advance their own dreams but also this country’s dreams, soldiers who are overseas fighting for us right now. People who are working hard every day, paying payroll tax, gas taxes, but don’t make enough income, and I want to fight for them.  That’s what I’ve been doing for the last four years because if they succeed, I believe the country succeeds. And when my grandfather fought in World War II and he came back and he got a GI bill and that allowed him to go to college, that wasn’t a handout. That was something that advanced the entire country. And I want to make sure that the next generation has those same opportunities. That’s why I’m asking for your vote and that’s why I’m asking for another four years.”

Yes, the finish was the keeper. People remember the final bite, and Obama totally rocked it.

Oops...here's the actual quote:

“I don’t look at my pension,” Obama answered. “It’s not as big as yours.”

@musto President Obama has our backs. Let's make sure wereelect him and move FORWARD. We will lose all of the significant advancements we have made in the last 4 years if Romney lies his way into office.
