A few years ago, the "sultan of bad taste" John Waters sent out this touching holiday ornament showcasing a lovely dead roach.

It was a rubber roach, but it still made the point.
And the point was a welcome slap in the face to all the fake Christmas cheer and forced commercialism that threatens to clog up our pores every dreaded December.
I found it worth excavating for this year--and in fact for every freakin' Christmas that dares to sugarcoat our fears and anxieties.
Roaches are the real reindeer.
