I'm Talking Theater Tonight On Theater Talk

Pacheco, my leg, Green
Snowbound? Bored? Canceled out of a show? Well, there's stimulating theater talk tonight to distract you.

Susan Haskins, the gracious producer/cohost of Theater Talk, regularly invites Jesse Green, Patrick Pacheco, and myself to have a writerly discussion about who and what are coming down the Broadway turnpike at unsuspecting ticket holders.

This time we dig into all the trends and/or coincidences a'coming:

Another Bobby Cannavale performance.

In the season's second Clifford Odets revival.

Another drag musical.

Two Richard Greenberg works.

We also dive into whether Cinderella can approach the Brandy/Whitney version; whether the Tom Hanks vehicle is just a glorified one-man play that just happens to have other people in it; and whether The Nance is the real Testament of Mary.

And Haskins got in a mention of my Angelina cover of the Voice (I respond with the above "Leg out!" gesture).

She also managed to do multiple plugs of my upcoming disco gig.

Yes, we previewed that too!

The show will air on Thirteen tonight at 1 A.M. (early Saturday morning), then on CUNY TV on Saturday 2/9 at 8:30 P.M., Sunday 2/10 at 12:30 P.M., and Monday 2/11 at 7:30 A.M., 1:30 P.M. and 7:30 P.M.

There was also a terrible one-night version at Lincoln Center with Renee Taylor and Lypsinka and I forget who else. what a mess.

There was  a fabu R&H "Cinderella" stage tour that had Jamie-Lynn Sigler  of "The Sopranos" as Cinderella, Paolo Montalban from the TV movie repeating his Prince, Eartha Kitt as the Fairy Godmother and Everett Quinton  as The Evil Stepmother. Divoon! Quinton also came to the rescue of a theater group called Running With Scissors by getting  them a helium tank for the balloon/dress special  effect in Charles  Ludlam's "Camille." Nice, nice man.

I live for these show! Can't wait.
