"It's Miss Stritch! Could You Get The Name Right, Please?"

That's Broadway legend Elaine Stritch's first line in the teaser for her documentary So Shoot Me, and it's just what we want from her:

Colorful, cantankerous correctitude.

Her other Stritch-isms emitted in this angsty-packed sampler:

"Are you crazy? This is your fault!"

"Wish I could fucking drive, then I'd really be a menace."

And "Oh, come on! Oh, it's the cops. I'll limp."

I'll let you find the urination line for yourself. Here's the link.

I still can't believe that she's finally decamped from New York and returned to the land of her birth: The Detroit suburbs!  I come from Detroit originally and have lived in NYC for 30 years.  I just can't picture her in that milieu.  The poor Midwestern shop clerks aren't going to know what hit 'em!   In spite of her crusty exterior and reputation, I can bear witness to the fact that she is a kind and loyal friend.  A mutual friend was in end-stage terminal cancer about 5 years ago and she came by regularly with baskets of freshly-made blueberry muffins ("Gotta fatten you up!").  She was fantastic and so much more down-to-earth than I'd expected.  I hope she's happy there.

I don't think a release date has been announced yet.

Well, that works out since I was at the event and it was sold out, so you wouldn't have been able to get a ticket. And why would YOU put comments like this on a thread about Elaine Stritch anyway. Not much of a reader?

Why would I want to see you sing disco tunes?  You've gotten insufferable since you stopped drinking.
