Seth MacFarlane's Most Negative Review Yet

Categories: Advice

Seth-MacFarlane.gif
I thought Seth MacFarlane was pretty funny as the Oscar host--he made Tommy Lee Jones laugh, for God's sake--even if some of the jokes didn't land, or at least not safely.

But a liberal thinkprogress.com review found him utterly childish and unredeembale.

The author didn't like his boobs shtick.

His Clooney bit.

His Chris Brown joke.

His Javier Bardem crack.

His demeanor. His attitude. His condescension. And his delivery.

Otherwise, it's a complete rave!

He was terrible. I don't know what PC means but telling titty-peepee jokes at the Oscars is not funny.

You don't have to be a liberal to see that he was a moron, telling dumb low-brow jokes that just weren't very funny. Political correctness or liberalism have nothing to do with it, he just was boorish, that's all. Some people don't find boorishness for its own sake funny, there's nothing wrong with that. You anti-liberal bigots want to try to turn that into a political thing, or claim someone expressing their opinion is "censoring", that's your problem, not anyone else's. And the thinkprogress.com criticism on McFarlane's performance was much more astute, reasonable, and well-supported than article. And far more so than some of the knee-jerk liburrl-hatin' comments in this comment section.

If the jokes had been said by a fat idiot with a funny voice like Peter Griffith, or an ugly, bitchy alien like Roger they would have been hilarious; but when a rich,  cute wonder boy like Seth says them they bomb. Seth should stay behind the camera where he really shines.

He was hilarious. Fuck thinkprogress and their PC bullshit and speech codes. Is it just me or has the left become a greater threat to free expression than the religious right and other conservative groups? What's ironic too is that the liberal press can be the most vicious group of haters imaginable but god forbid you poke a little fun at women or minorities as a group you're a fucking pariah. It's asshole like that have pushed me away from the democratic party and towards being an independent.

I thought he was dreadful and creepy. I can never even tell if he's being ironic or if that's the real him.

I nominate the Tom Shales at Large blog on Roger Ebert's website at the suntimes.

"The Oscars: Captain Kirk was right"

"Listen -- a billion people are throwing up. That's a rough estimate of course, but every year somebody at the Oscars says a billion people on the planet are watching the program; however many watched this year's Oscar show, they may well have felt sickened by it. It was a stomach-churning, jaw-dropping debacle, incompetently hosted and witlessly produced...

Skeptics were wisely taken aback when Seth MacFarlane, a squirrelly little ham whose forte is producing dirty cartoons for television, was chosen to host this year's event, and there was more astonishment when it was later announced he would sing and dance as part of his performance. He turned out to be the proverbial triple threat; he not only couldn't sing or dance but he was no stand-up comedian, either."

Look for other hilarious reviews like:

"Wow many Beyonci does it take to blow out a Super Bowl?"

"Late-Night: Later Than You Think" - about Jimmy Kimmel

There is nothing worse than presumptuous political correctness, especially from a granola munching liberal.

One review I saw made a good point - that you don't mind misogynistic jokes if the jokes are funny. And the woman from the New Yorker said he made it all about himself.

My suggestion is, since the show is about Hollywood celebrating itself, why not make it an  untelevised event where they can give each other awards and not have to worry about how entertaining it is. They can still have the red carpet for the fashions.

Short memory on these people. Do they not remember that two years ago was the Anne Hathaway/James Franco debacle. This one was miles above that.

He wasn't that bad! Can't people realize it's comedy rather than hold it to some higher standard?

@Ventblog Liburrl hatin'? See thanks for showing how all leftist drones think. If you don't agree with them you must be a hill billy. Sorry, Im from NYC, not religious and socially about as liberal as you can get. this is a free speech issue though and the left is ready to run people out of town if they don't toe the liberal line and make a little joke about some of the anointed victims classes.

@jack Threat to free expression? The reviewer was expressing her opinion (and in an intelligent, well-supported way, I might add - did you even bother to read it before foaming at the mouth?) You're painting her as some sort of menace for it. And attempting to smear a broad swath of Americans as something they aren't, because you don't disagree with her opinions. Between you and her, you're the threat to free expression here, not her.

@tampontammy Sounds like you didn't even bother to read the article before you jumped at the chance to spread your hate, bigot.

@bethesda He was not funny. A comic being not funny on network television is pretty awful.

@Jack @Ventblog Free speech issue? Are you an idiot? They guy has a hit TV show. He's got all the free speech he deserves!

@Ventblog Bullshit. She can say whatever she wants and i'll tolerate it but she on the other hand has no tolerance and is trying to stop MacFarlane and anyone else that pokes a little fun at the anointed victims class or doesn't agree with their agenda from saying what they want.

@milezero No, but you having the usual liberal drone mentality or on the same level intellectually as a middle school student.

@Jack @Ventblog

Why don't you shut up? That's the problem with you white boys---you're rarely ever been told in your life that you can't do or say certain things out of simple fucking respect, but the ONE time you're told you can't, you go the hell off like someone snatched your favorite porn DVD away from you. Nobody has to agree with you no matter how much you whine about it. And shut up with the whiny blame-liberals-for-ever-damn-thing-shtick. There's all kind of folks in this world and room enough for different opinions. Grow the hell up and being so quick to rant and rave like some little loudmouth spoiled punk who didn't get a damn thing for Christmas. Hee hee hee hee hee!
