The Best Non-Nominated Performances This Year
Not to take anything away from the fine nominees for this year's Oscar's acting categories, but there were five people--all men, it seems--who I feel were robbed of a nod, and I'm here to graciously present them with La Daily Musto nominations to make up for that. You're welcome, guys.
Javier Bardem, Skyfall
Matthew McConaughey, Magic Mike
Jean-Louis Trintignant, Amour
Dwight Henry, Beasts of the Southern Wild
John Goodman (for practically every film that came out this year. And he was great in all of them.)
And the La Daily Musto goes to...Jean-Louis Trintignant.
In the tale of a man caring for his ailing wife with ferocity and tenderness, Trintignant was every bit as astounding as costar Emmanuelle Riva, who's getting all the accolades. In fact, he dominates the film way more than she does, especially once she has a stroke and is rather out of it. But Trintignant has been strangely ignored by awards-givers, who apparently can only notice some greatness but not all of it.
They probably think the above photo is of Billy Crystal and Bette Midler!
