The message has gone out, from poet Scott Hightower:

"If you eat at Chick-fil-A, you are supporting a hate organization that opposes the civil liberties of women and LGBT people.

"As a gay man, I am deeply offended that this is on our campus. Anyone who supports Chick-fil A supports HATE."

Here's the petition.

Come on, don't be chicken.

I feel the CEO of Chick-fil-A has every right to express his personal beliefs.   He has never said the company won't welcome homosexuals to their stores.    I have never been discriminated against when in a Chick-fil-A and will continue to support the company.  I am SO TIRED of angry gays who boycott any business or person who doesn't agree with their agenda.    "Jack" is absolutely correct in that this is a freedom of speech issue, whether or not one believes the same way the CEO of Chick-fil-A does.

If the CEO had donated money to a group that opposes a minority group having full rights in society, this discussion would be over.  We're not second class citizens.

Depriving gays and women of rights because of some antiquated beliefs is called "free thinking"???? No, its called ritualized bigotry. It's the opposite of free thinking!! Practice your religion all you want--just don't use it to inflict restrictions on the freedoms of those who don't believe in it.

I love the haters like Jack who use religion to bash gays and women and try to deprive them of equal rights, but then when these oppressed groups fight back, they play victim and say "You're depriving us of our free speech." Such a joke. Surely Jesus wouldn't have condoned this.

Dear God, where do these posters come from?  It sounds like Chick-fil-H8 sent out a message to all their Christian supporters to spam this page.   These aren't Musto's regular commenters.

Obviously only liberals and homosexuals get to have free speech. If you're opposed to their agenda on religious grounds you're a homophobe and have to be shut down and run out of town. Utter shite. Ex-KGB agent Yuri Bezmenov in a series of lectures done in the 1980's maps out just how identity politics is leading us to totalitarianism. I used to take it with a grain of salt but over the last year or so it seems quite likely.

@ladybug9 But basically what you're saying too is that you want to kick out an entire pillar of western civilization to suit the desires of a small minority? Wow, talk about how our schools have failed us!

@ladybug9 Another illiterate leftist drone...If you actually read what was there instead of trying to suit what I said to fit your lame brained stereotypes I said three times that I am not religious and am fine with gay marriage but this is a free speech issue and freedom of religion issue and the owner of Chick fila is allowed to speak his mind in the USA and shouldn't have to deal with mob rule trying to run him out of town for it. Unfortunately you, like all leftist drones wants uniformity of thought and no diversity because you're a thin skinned, closet fascist.

@bethesda You on the hand want to destroy free thinking through threats of retaliation until we're all uniform in our thinking and wind up like the army of insects they have over in North Korea. Oh, was that not PC either?

@bethesda Trust me, the very last thing i am is a Christian. In fact Im more critical of religious institutions than most. I'm not against gay marriage either and I'm totally pro-choice. Ah, see how free thought works, drone? This my friend is a free speech issue and by signing a petition to run a mans business out of town because he has an opinion you don't agree with is simply wrong and violates our own principles. I don't agree with what he said either but he has a first amendment right to say it on both speech and freedom of religion and will tolerate it and if it bothers me so much I wont eat there.

@RobertAllenFirth The left has become a greater threat to free speech due to their power and influence in the mainstream media than social conservatives and jesus freaks ever were. There, I said it.

@RobertAllenFirth Sorry liberal drone, Im not a Christian or at all religious, nor am I against gay marriage or abortion. What? Free thought? This is a free speech issue and it seems that left is ready to run people right of town and destroy them for simply giving an opinion on a matter that they don't like. This mans speech is protected under the first amendment as both political speech and freedom of religion. If you don't like those thngs and want to destroy others for thinking thoughts you don't agree with I would hook up with Dennis Rodman and try North Korea.

@Jack You don't have the right in this country to create laws to oppress others. Plain and simple. Blame who you want, yell & Stomp your feet all you want. God does not advocate the mistreatment of your neighbors. Suck it up Mary. I never got everything I've ever wanted either.

Jack

@FredsterNYC @Jack Also they are just abiding by current laws which define marriage as a man and a woman and not changing laws. its the homosexual community that are seeking to change laws.

Jack

@FredsterNYC @Jack Who said anything about creating laws to oppress others? Chick fil-a has done no such thing. They're a restaurant and their owner gave his opinion on an issue and for that the liberal thought police have to run him out of town. Do they ever stop? last week we were treated to the usual howls of "misogyny, racism. and homophobia" because Seth Macfarlane made a bunch of jokes that the annointed victims classes didnt like. How long until he's a pariah of the far left? I'm actually fine with gay marriage dummy, but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about one group of people attempting to deny another group of people the right to express their beliefs in the United States of America and if they do that group will exact revenge. That's the basis of tyranny. Sorry. You don't have to like Chick fila's owner's opinion or Rush Limbaugh's or any other conservatives but you do have to tolerate it in a country that has free political speech and expression enshrined in it's constitution instead of submitting it to the internet mob rule of petitions.
