Valerie Harper: "We Are All Terminal"

The beloved Valerie Harper--also known as Rhoda Morgenstern--just got a really harsh cancer diagnosis, but she's got something to say about it, and she did so in a video for People magazine, which is one of the most memorable things I've ever seen.

I can't even describe this clip, except to say Valerie is real, touching, beautiful, inspiring, and turns a couple of minutes into a towering experience, as only she could.

Cancer ain't got nothing on this goddess. We love you so much, Valerie. And you too, Rhoda.

What a beautiful sign-off.  Bless her heart.  I'll always love her.  As my mother discovered, the only good thing about terminal cancer is that you DO know the end is coming and you have a chance to say goodbye--and others can tell you goodbye and how much they loved you.  Go in peace, dear Val, when the time comes.  You KNOW that you are loved--and that's wonderful.

The most perfect, joyous  casting EVER was Valerie Harper as Rhoda Morgenstern and Nancy Walker as her mother.

Saw Ms. Harper  on the stage in "Dear Liar," with Anthony Zerbe and she was FANTASTIC.

She will always remain in the present tense for me.
