Michael Reagan's Remarks Lead To Cancelation At Rape Crisis Event

Categories: Gay Marriage

After comparing gay marriage to bestiality and other horrors, Republican strategist Michael Reagan was canceled as the guest speaker at an upcoming Cleveland Rape Crisis Center luncheon.

Reagan (the adopted son of Ronald Reagan) had written that gay marriage "is a slippery slope leading to other alternative relationships and the unconstitutionality of any law based on morality. Think about polygamy, bestiality, and perhaps maybe murder."

Reagan has spoken out of behalf of the victims of sexual violence, so the organizers of the event were reluctant to have to cancel him, yet felt it was the right thing to do.

And I guess he loses out on a free lunch.

I was gonna insert a semi-snarky "how could you" remark about his brother, Ron Jr., when I came upon this little tidbit when "researching" Ron Jr.:

"Curiously, the fact that President Obama's former chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, studied ballet and attended Sarah Lawrence College (after turning down a scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet - the same dance company Reagan performed with) didn't cause speculation about his sexuality.  A sign perhaps that metrosexuals had become fully integrated into society - and that Reagan was ahead of his time."

@SavannahMontgomery Michael is not Ron's brother: He was adopted by Ronnie and his then-wife, Jane Wyman. He has no biological connection to Ron. Also, I suspect that if you were to ask Ron what kind of relationship they had, he would likely say there really wasn't any. As for Ron, Jr.: He isn't "Junior." That's because he and Ronnie have different middle names. Ron is Prescott; Ronnie is (I mean was) Wilson.
